Have you been told to play mana song and only do quick attack ?

I was in this group and the leader told me to stop casting and only do mana song and quick attack... has it ever happened to you ? I was doing like two melody (20s) and doing all my other casting when I notice he only wanted the mana recoup buff from resonance to pop as much as possible ... I also kind of notice other bard played it that way since they almost never use mana... I wonder - is it how bard should be play ? Was it just a situational thing ?

So switching songs in the situation is needed. Things go south play heal song and it gives a boost to all healing done and your auto attack combo will heal. If I'm the only Bard I switch up songs as needed. Don't let people tell you how to play.

Lol I've actually understood how resonance works . I was reading your post and kind of figure out how to get the most out of it. I wasn't quite understanding how it worked (and so did that one teamate obviously). Also, I kind of hope the stack will become more visible soon. Now that I know how to use it, I kind of want to get the better out of it

You have to use skills to build resonance stacks, then auto attack to get the proc regardless of which song your running.

In a group that's really cooking, you won't have time to switch songs in my experience.

Yup, that's what I realized, after the group I start looking back at the tooltip in order to figure out what I did wrong . Did also find out that there is a bug where resonance stack aren't showing on your buff list and so aren't working. Which didn't help mana regen at all

I disabled auto-attack entirely because it was cucking my resonance stacks I was working up to 10 between casts.

I build 10 with spells then auto attack it into the ground. Repeat.

This "Rotation" actually feels very bard-like to me because most of what I cast is group buffs anyway.

I also will "wastefully" cast things to build stacks between pulls to build stacks.

I have never had a complaint about mana.

In most groups I can do pensive for a while to fill the groups MP. Then I can go menacing for a while to blow mobs up. Then back to pensive to heal group mp. People seem to like this.

I have also switched to cheerful and saved party's from wipes because bard is actually a great healer.

If you know better don't let people tell you how to play.

What I've noticed is that there's always 1-2 people in a group that use much more mana than the rest. And asking them to use a more mana efficient rotation never works out well. So I'm rarely able to switch to menacing.

Not that they're really doing anything wrong, I assume they're using cooldown reductions properly to use skills more and auto less. But the entire group is missing out on +10% damage, plus my resonance/shock stacks, because of it.
