Solo Difficulty

It's ludicrous how difficult leveling is on your own. Not even considering the quest bugs that make the quests 100x slower, mobs are insanely dangerous and the spawn rates are high on top of that - so not only am I fighting for my life, but I'm probably going to be ambushed by a random spawn to ensure my death.
Questing should be the easiest and most fun content, yet I'm forced to consider just grinding down mobs in a group just to get a level. This is simply not an acceptable game design. Any casual solo player should be more than capable of picking up a quest and completing it for good XP and unique rewards.
If this is too much to ask, then this game is dead on arrival and not worth investing time in, because currently, casuals will be met with an immediate wall of difficulty that's going to turn them off within an hour of playing the game. It's simply not acceptable.

They should have both quests that u can do solo and group quests with the best reward to encourage to team up with people, simple as that.
The current system will kill the game, I hope they read all the complaints about it and that they have in mind the good writing and doing of quests, even quests that help up to build nodes (cleaning the forest of bandits, kill a monster terrorizing the village or prepare to defend the city from a goblin army)
Imagination is our only limit, just not grind mindlessly
tbh im okay with travel being a barrier. It should be in a social sandbox.
The game is half based around PvP but most players are not going to start PvPing until they reach level cap. Why are they choosing to make leveling so difficult in that kind of environment? Make Item acquisition the group focus. If in groups or raids, you get the better items. Leveling should never be part of the struggle(To this degree) in a game where most players will want to be max level first before they play the other half of the game(PvP).
I stay out of congested areas, and I haven't done any dungeons yet. I've only grouped about 1% of the time so far.
I don't typically pull more than one mob, I fight only those at my level or lower for the most part, minding my surroundings, pulling to a safe spot. It does take longer, but it's not difficult for me. I've leveled all classes to 10+ using this method and probably only die once every 3-4 levels or so when I'm not watching the spawn points and surroundings or someone trains mobs to me.
I judge how much damage I take from the mob, determine how much resources I use fighting it and adjust accordingly so I rarely have to rest. If I use up too many resources during the fight, I find mobs a level lower and re-evaluate.
I'm using all common gear, mostly bought from the vendor.
So, although it is slower to level than others that group, it is do-able and fun for me.
We will have to agree to disagree as to what fun is. I do not mind killing mobs for XP but when it is hundred+ of them per level, it gets old.
I've played MMOs for 25+ years and I enjoy the grind. I'm not in a hurry to level; I spend a lot of time gathering and exploring too. I understand that's not everyone's cup of tea though.
You obviously haven't done a lot of quests, which lead you to dangerous POI's.
Of course it's 'doable' to mindlessly grind one mob at a time, but:
Its lazy game design if this is the most a solo player can do.
It's boring as hell.
It's slow as hell.
I may as well just do that with a party.
I may as well just play another game entirely.
I would recommend though to join a guild. As a solo player you might want to join ours. It´s called "Solo". cheers
I'll check back on the forums from time to time to see what's new.
For the OP: I felt similar to you during my first shot at the game in P1, with regard to difficulty. Then I learned a lot more about the game mechanics and how to setup "combos" and stack damage (solo). During P2 dying has been rare, and mostly in a group with bad pulls.
Steven has said that the game in it's current state is hardest on the solo player, and that should get easier as more content is added.
I bet you're a joy to be around IRL.
i have hope for this.... currently its not solo friendly
Incredibly self-absorbed take. Sweats need casuals for a healthy economy in an MMO. Additionally, my post wasn't even about 'quick fun'. I don't play an MMO for 30-60 minutes. I will usually play for a few hours every day.
I guess you cant read. I was complaining that a mindless grind was the only viable leveling option.
Try to read.
Don't let me harshness fool you - I'm incredibly hopeful for the game. I believe the Devs are intent on earnestly making this a great game.
I just felt this needed to be communicated is all. Cheers.
