That said, I’m not sure I’d classify Ashes as fully pay-to-win, considering that the advantage players purchase diminishes every day after launch. In the grand scheme of things, the percentage of pay-to-win in Ashes is relatively small. However, it will never be completely 0%.

It truly sucks and should have never been a thing. This made me think. Would it not be amazing if no one rolled on a head-start server? I think that would be the best outcome.

Intrepid has shown already that they are willing to limit the number of servers for a launch till they fill. So this cope dream that there will be whole empty headstart servers that no one rolls on for launch is just that. And even if they did, you are not getting away from those people, cause if you look to how server merges are planned for by Intrepid, weaker, failing servers are rolled into healthier ones. So those dreaded "headstarters" with all their scary cosmetics and extra lumber from that extra day or two are still going to show up to haunt you.

There are certain things in the Kickstarter that were marked exclusive. Head start was not one of them.
