Gathering (copper, weeping willow).

Can anybody explain how works appearing new ores? Everybody have huge problems to find copper, zinc. It is enough that we gather basalt, granite and wait for respawn new ores in same place? Or gather ore and some new are created instantly in random location?

Crafting needs tons of resources, but we can travel the hole world and find 5 coper ore in hour. The same trouble have lumberjacks, weeping willow = copper.

Two days ago my wife and I decided to jump down the crafting hole. We spant a few hours in game clicking and trying to figure things out. We got to the point we needed things like copper. My wife and I hit a wall. 3hrs of trying to get copper and quickly figured out why people are upset. Not fun. Dropped crafting till this is fixed. Just not fun.

I saw my first Willow today. I bugged out after chopping it down a few times due to server time out. The wood would not go to my inventory. Re-log'd and another player was chopping it down by the time I spawned. I see braidwood at a decent rate around but not willow's. Same with iron. Iron everywhere, but copper is not well distributed around the map.

The way they have some of these spawning in very limited locations lends itself to gatekeeping knowledge of routes and ruins general enjoyment. Low level resources shouldn't be this much of a time sink to search for and farm.

That said I went to the Tropics today and there are little to no gatherables of any kind there. Everything in a2 is very much placeholder work in progress and feels years away.

The best way to find copper is to set all three bags to herbalism or lumberjacking bags...

Then tell yourself you are not coming back until all three bags are full of wood.

Somehow that works every time for me.

resources are set up to be random respawn. this is a huge problem. so you farm a copper node but a granite replaces it. no one wants the granite so it sits there. so the more copper that is farmed the less there will be respawning in the world. so we have to mine everything we dont want to make sure we can maybe get what we do want. THE reason for this is they dont want a resource map. really sucks though. been farming copper for 2 days about 15-20 hours and found 2 nodes.

As a new player, I feel like I should have been warned that the placeholder system has a lot left to be desired.

I'm level 8 atm and wanting to make gear so I can tank better. Spent 2 days mining, barely have enough copper for 2 pieces of Armour and a mace.

Feels like such a waste of time and ultimately self defeating.

When I want to find copper I go to a secret place shown to me by a restored novice treasure map. I also gather stuff (maybe even copper!) on the way there. I can hit 3-4 maps before filling up.

Sure, sometimes it's ruby or flax or zinc, but that's ok, since I can sell or level weaving/jewelry. And sometimes it's ~34 copper.

The trick to farming copper and zinc is to camp an area after you've cleared all the shit granite and basalt nodes. Also need to find those sweet spot areas that are on shorter respawn timers. If you go wandering around avoiding all the granite and basalt nodes you will barely find what you are looking for.

So much misinformation here that is totally wrong.

Copper/Zinc is on a very predictable timer. You smack it and then it will re-appear in the exact same place. Hopelessly addicted miners with Grand Master mining at 50 (which I may or may not be...) know exactly where these spots are and they haven't really changed since December. There's plenty of copper out there and its on a much more reasonable respawn timer than Willow/Braidwood. It's just farmed because it re-appears at a predictable time in a predictable place - which needs to change.
