Please Do Not Cave to the Care Bears (More PvP Please)

The PvP is the most fun part about this game. Leveling up fighting over grind spots before I got into this niche of super serious players was hella fun. Now that I'm lvl 17 people no longer seem to have an interest to flag because they rather min max their characters progress instead of having fun.

You really need that PvP gameplay to make the core loop exciting imo. Right now with the corruption system being outrageously punishing and broken there is essentially no PvP and they still complain about the game. This is just what they do.

Please do not cave to these cries. PvP is awesome, and if people don't like that there are many other games for them to play. Steam charts clearly shows us that PvP is in. Anyone who says otherwise is delusional.

if you and the other person flag pvp you don't take any corruption. So if you want make pvp and the others player no, it's fun for you nut not for the others you find.
The new area are full pvp if you want go there all are flagged and you can make pvp without any problems.

Flag systems don't work unless if you give a reason to flag. Need to have massive xp boost or something like that and then it's probably fine.

Also PvP zones are only an option if you have PvP zones for every level bracket. Not good enough if it's only end game and end game requires you to PvE for 200 hours to get there. Fuck that.

I agree with the more PvP, but my hope is that Intrepid doesn't cave to the PvP-crybabies.

Carebears, as they are called, I understand, they stay out of the way or try to master how to escape if they're given the options for that, but 'PvP' whiners constantly ruin games I like by doing exactly what the OP points out, 'refusing to fight until they build up advantage' if the game lets them, and 'quitting because they lost' if they realize they fell behind in that advantage race.

Obviously PvP isn't a strong focus of this game right now, and we haven't had any real balancing passes yet, but my group and I really want to see more movement toward this outside of 'rush to top level to do Caravans and get ahead'.

Or at least some clarity on if that is truly the main gameplay now, since everything points to that.

Here is a fun possibility. Intrepid has stated that no exceptional servers(PvE) will be created. What if though, the player base makes one? There is nothing in the game that forces a player to PvP. So it could be assumed that if enough large guilds wanted, they could attempt to create a server where no wars are declared. What little PvP that would occur would come from the currently bad corruption system and zones where you flag.

I have to wonder just how popular that server would be.

Wait until they nerf corrupted consequences and implement bounty system. Now we'll talk.

I agree, full pvp. Full lootable corpses, no corruption. Just absolute mayhem. I will enjoy playing this game with the other 20 people who actually enjoy that archaic system design

Trying to troll people by calling them ©CareBears, crybabies or whiners just shows the toxicity of some MMO players of today. If they can't grief you in game they'll try and grief you in the forums. Although, if you insist, at this moment in time, I'm Grumpy Bear.
A lot of people (myself included) have backed this project since 2017 when it went up on Kickstarter. PvP is mostly suitable for people that spend their life in game. Sorry, people have to grind and level up in the real world too.

Pls don't cave to PKers. They just gonna move on and it's the core players that will stick around.

This is just my opinion but there should be a way to reduce gank fests, but other than that keep pvp pretty much open. I wish this would have been more faction based as that helps reduce gank fests like AOC. People when they have no control act like aholes. So a bounty system or angry guards would be a good balance IMO, other than that I personally like free for all, but most people don't like to constantly be ganked by groups or higher levels. Needs to be some way to limit that. The elites will still stay and then complain about how few people are left in the game after they ruin it for everyone else and they quit.

All i took from this is, i have a group and my group of low quality muppets love to look for the 1 or 2 individuals that turn purple. This is the type of "real pvp" that clowns like you cater to i guess? Same clowns who try to crap on people get crapped on solo and when this happens....the low IQ toilet banter get thrown left to right. I've seen this so many times in the last 100 hours so far.

This is literally the average baseline for the pvp apes right now.

I'm actually really sorry you've experienced this so much, and I know I definitely come off as a person who should just be lumped in with the rest of that type when I'm just talking in general.

But I just like PvP, like, proper PvP, not what Ashes has now, not what New World had. PvP that means something, is mostly fair depending on your location in the game, and allows you to opt out when it gets too lopsided without losing anything other than 'whatever the winner was fighting you over'.

So, I'm in no way mad that you think this of me because definitely at least 90% of people around me do act exactly like this. It's just that I don't like them either. They ruin everything, and have been ruining everything for a decade at least.

I'm out here patiently waiting for a Level Cap raise in Throne and Liberty in the hope that the few high level Zones change from 'uncapped' to '50-Cap' because nearly no one gets to have any fun as it is now.

PvP-averse players should be able to take whatever comes and let the system deal with it (or in some games, just never go to PvP areas)
PvP-maniacs shouldn't have to feel like they're wasting their time because playing 3h a day will never keep up with those who play 11h in any combat (basically where Ashes is for now).
PvP-duelists should have some method to get to have their duels without inviting the entire server to jump them unpunished, but it shouldn't put them into a state where no one can jump them.

    That's what I want.

It’s odd. For all my time in P1&2, I’ve only been attacked by another player once - when I was purple for less than a minute. Says something about how strict corruption is right now.

Once corruption is better calibrated & the whole mob training bs is fixed, I’m hoping the ow pvp opens up more.

It occurs to me that it is the incentives that drive this concept.
If someone can force flag a lower leveled player into PvP over resources, then they will be tempted to use that mechanic (or kiting) to just satisfy a need to PK. I personally don't like being the victim, but there is no foul there. Just a player playing within the rules.
When that initiating player gets XP and/or loot for that action, I do see a problem. They are now fully incentivized to keep doing it as long as they don't get a debilitating punishment (corruption). Once they figure out how to avoid that, game on again!
In every game that allows looting the dead, the higher levels start mining the lowers. It's human nature. And it destroys the casual to moderate player base through rage-quit, which in turn lowers the revenue of the game, leading to general collapse.
I would suggest making this practice unappealing, not illegal. Set a conditional range of 3-4 levels difference (similar to PvE range) that is fair game. Outside of that a penalty of XP, Level, Gear, etc. is applied in escalating proportion to the difference. This way the "stay on your toes" aspect of AoC is maintained, but the deliberate harvesting of players stops.
We all remember what it was like in Diablo I on Battlenet. Spawn, Die, rinse, repeat.
