Quests not marked

Just started playing and I find many of the quests are not marked on the map. I have no idea where I'm supposed to go for some of these. I find myself just wandering around killing random mobs. For example I have one called proper burial. The first part of the quest was marked and I eventually got that done then it said to go to some 3rd Lance. It wasn't marked at all. I wandered around and somehow I got it done, don't even know when it got done. I never saw anything saying I had completed it. Now it's telling me to look for hints but no idea where they're supposed to be.
Another quest called Rain of Rocks I had no idea where they were. I just wandered aimlessly until I found them much later. You get it at like level 1 but these guys are level 4+ and hit hard.
The tracking button in the journal is confusing. It says "track" but if you click it, it actually untracks the quests instead. This should be reversed. Makes no sense.
