Regarding Player Classes

GraillGraill Member, Alpha Two

My opinion.

All classes should be viable to perform damage and heal. What all games fail at most of the time is ae the subtle changes that define a class and it's role.

The sacred triangle throughout pen and paper and MMO's, single player games of Tank, DPS, Healer has always been a problem for me.

The headache for the devs is the programming and scripting to get character classes to seem "fair" and logical in the lore. Personally I feel all player characters/classes should have the same equality in offense and defense with only small changes or the odd spells/skills that define a role for a particular situation.

I am going to generalize because several classes are very over powered and a couple are simply hot garbage for what they are intended.

I want classes that can all solo decently AND perform their roles when needed in groups. One class should not be able to decimate another from range or close up... I will invoke the Forgotten realms combat as an example. The vast majority of the companions could handle themselves in REASONABLE solo situations and when grouped together worked well as a team, and because of that could do far more than they could separately. This includes dungeon only skills that become available in dungeons or raids but are unavailable in the open world.

In the open world classes would, should in MY opinion, have enough healing and defense to comfortably quest around without feeling like wet toilet paper, or the inverse, walk around nuking everything with impunity, that includes players. Players that constantly group might get some extra skills to help the group in defense.

Level matters, and the gear and levels a player earns should be rewarded, should be able to destroy utterly lower level mobs/people in the appropriate situations. I like the PVP in it's current state though corruption could last a while longer at this point in time in this Alpha 2 because too many are exploiting right now.

For PVP penalties I would like to see some decent humor/gags for "PVP sins" For example, for egregious violations, a group of mobs could capture and drag an offender around the countryside. The player seeing/experiencing this in real time from first or third person as they are drug across the realm, dropping items along the way, which in turn glow on the ground, thus turning the offense into a world event to capture the mob/mobs, the player could be used as a club against the players trying to kill it or be set on the ground as a buff for the mobs on a stake like a buffing flag for them, the ideas are endless, for both PVP or PVE.

I could go on and "explain" how things would work but even I laugh at thinking about posting that. The devs are responsible for building the characters and making the game fun for all. This is a PVP game, the flagging system is really satisfying in my opinion, things just need some teaks and I wanted to bring attention to the classes right now being unsatisfying in general and some being horrible in their roles while others are currently over tuned. One last problem I see are PVE players being used as content for PVP'rs. It did not work for New World, it will not work for Ashes, in my opinion.

I did not name classes purposely as all of them in my opinion are not where they should be in both roles and in general adventuring as of this Alpha 2.

Thanks for the eyeballs.
