Balance risk/reward for attackers/defenders of caravans

Right now, it feels like there's no reason for high levels to not randomly attack everything in sight. Zero risk and all reward for attacking caravans, meanwhile defenders lose both cargo and caravan, which can be a very high cost depending on rarity.

Introduce some risk for attackers, like a consumable siege item required to be able to declare yourself as an attacker, similar to war declaration. The higher the rarity of the caravan, the higher the rarity of the consumable siege item required. Or some other means to balance risk/reward balance on both sides and reduce mindless zerging.

    Attackers can lose their own caravan when they summon it to take defender loot

    That's true, although there's still 0 risk to attacking. If you win, that's free loot. If you lose, you lose nothing. That's the imbalance in risk/reward imo.

    We also need some incentives to defend caravans, I would like to see a gold portion go towards the defenders and a chunk of exp as a caravan run can take over an hour

    Something like a mercenary for defending it, with a nice reward of gold... :)

    You can call it 50/50 full loot, something is lost but not all. No doubt it will kill the game if they can´t handle to manage all those broken mechanics.

    Either you lose only the cargo or everyone lose everything, could have both in difference zone, like you see balanced in other games.

    Agree. For a big guild every single caravan are basically loot pinatas atm.

    3 things i hope is coming is:

    1. A marker on the map when a caravan is getting attacked that automatically appears or the caravan owner can send out.

    2. Bounty hunters and/or defenders see where the attackers are located.

    3. Exp for killing attackers/defenders.

    I do think something similar is already planned. And when they keep implementing features it might change the meta and stuff.

    For now the only thing we can do to help a fellow caravan is look out for them and help when we come across them. Im getting pretty annoyed of the people acting as police and ask for fees to keep going. Im not saying they should not be able to, im just saying I want to be able to punish them.

    If every bounty hunter in the riverlands get a notification that a caravan is getting attacked there is suddenly a risk involved.
