I don't get it, my Grand Master professions automatically take up 2 of 3 Master professions?

Why can't I Grandmaster Armor & Weapon Smithing and then Master Metalworking, Alchemy and Jeweler? The way this is setup, you can have 2 Grandmaster professions, but you are then limited to one unique Master, one unique Journeyman and one unique Apprentice. Why can't I have 2 Grandmaster professions, 3 other Master professions, 4 other Journeyman professions and 5 other Apprentice professions? If I earn Armor Smithing as a Grandmaster, why can't I drop my Master Armor Smithing and run something else up to Master? Etc, etc ...

    The skill promotions are like stacking blocks. To be a grandmaster, you need to have master, journeyman, apprentice, and novice stacked underneath it. You can extend it from there.

    So choose your 3 favorite skills to actually advance and find buddies that have skills to compliment your choice.

    How about we make you Grandmaster in every profession, Start you off with 1,000,000,000 gold. A chest with all max resources will always be by your side, And, the first lvl 1 mob you kill will instantly make you max level. This way, all you will have to do is just stand there..... You won the game you hero...

    You can’t ‘drop’ master without dropping ‘grandmaster’. Again, it works like a stack, not Jenga.

    You can demote your profession from say GM to master, but you will lose all of the xp between those ranks. It’s designed to provide just enough specialization while needing cross-dependency on other players.
