Idea: Counter to flying mounts

Hello!
This idea might have been discussed in the past, but I wanted to voice my idea on counter to flying mounts.

As it stands flying mounts are quite OP, rightfully so. There are only 8 people on their respected servers with mounts. Powerful people with powerful guilds have near limitless ability to scout their opponents without any counter. Pretty much only way flying mount can be killed is if they get too close.

Well here's my idea; drawn from the DND spell Earthbind (Shown in the picture below). Those unfamiliar, Earthbind is a level 2 spell that can take down one flying creature and "bind" to the earth. Making them descent towards earth, and unable to fly. The spell is basically a counter for flying creatures who would otherwise be only hittable by ranged characters.

Now how to implement this to AoC? It should be an artifact or a high level spell or one time use spell scroll made by Scribes, that last for minute or two. With spell scroll being the best option in my opinion. Regardless I do think the spell needs to be rare use case that requires multiple people with very high cost in material. One random or small group shouldn't be able to use the spell to gank a mayor, but it needs to be organized rally against the mayor. The best use case spell should be large scale PVP battles like in sieges.

Spell could also serve PVE role against any flying boss, making the spell even a requirement for some bosses to take them down effectively. Perhaps these flying bosses are the ones that drop the needed material to make the spell.

What do you think about the idea, what are your thoughts? Am I a idiot to think that flying mounts need a counter, or is the spell to harsh or too easy. I do think this spell could serve a major role in battles and sweet spot can be found where it used rarely but effectively.

TLDR: Have a limited use and high cost spell that removes flying mounts (or any flying creature) ability to fly.

Prefer the old 'Cannot fly in combat'.

A solid limit on their flight height and speed with a weapon that can counter them would be awesome.

I at least want them to be in some sort of danger when flying around out there.

I would also accept some sort of giant bird mob as common and annoying as wolfs to be all over the map.

I just don't like the idea of floating piñatas. The flying mount would be a very nimble beast otherwise how would the beast survive to be a big enough mount to be tamed to ride in the first place? There is a reason ballista was not used to counter treb fire against walls.

Ballista would be nice too, though can't really have ballistas middle of nowhere other than "magic".

Give us ballista upgrade to the caravan. 2nd person will operate ballista that can shoot down potential enemy or scout. It would work only on flying units or just deal low damage to ground, but huge to sky enemies.
