AoC a PVE game with griefing

Unfortunately, PVP is very limited in the game, all due to the various disincentives to the practice of turning on PVP to compete for spots.
The easiest immediate solution would be to return the corruption system to what it was at the beginning of phase 1.

Exactly and this completely undermines a game that aims to be PvX.
For ex, the caravan defense/attack system has no incentives for anyone volunteering to defend the caravan afaik.
As for contesting farming spots, there are ways of being creative about it and getting friends involved. Not saying this is the intended/canonical way it should be handled but, leave room for emergent gameplay. There are alternatives to flagging up immediately when someone harvests a gatherable you wanted.
Nobody is going to PvP until they reach level cap. Since the game is boring without a "single person" way of leveling in a timely manner, many people have just noped out before reaching level cap due to an overcrowded server.
The problem is that the alternative we have today is called griefing. Besides, I don't want alternatives, I just criticize the lack of PvP as a way to contest a spot.
I've been level 25 since the first week of phase 2 and the times we've had pvp, it's only been with a war scroll, other than that, very rarely. Even with a caravan, it's usually someone isolated.
