The targeting/marking system and how it relates to PVP

Marking and selecting marks is very crucial in group based MMO's, especially in PVP. Now I don't know how complete the system currently is, but right now it feels horrible to use. There is not focus fire. There's no easy way to mark or select marked targets. Organized pvp suffers because of this.
I come from Aion. I had about 13,000 hours in the game and the majority of it was leading pvp groups
Aion does a great job with marking targets. Here's a screenshot from one of my old pvp vids that displays the UI I'll be highlighting.
The game allows for some extra draggable hotbars. You can put anything here including target marks, emotes, skills, pots, etc. I chose to use target marks.
In my screenshot, the hotbar highlighted in green has my "brand target" buttons. Aion had numbers 1-6 as well as some generic symbols you could use for marking. I chose 1-6 as the max group size was 6. Pressing "1" while a targets selected would put a 1 above their head.
The hotbar highlighted in pink has my "select target" buttons. If something branded "1" is within range, the "Select target 1" icon will light up, I can press it, and I'll target that player/mob.
What this allows is for the group leader to very quickly mark targets by selecting an enemy and either clicking on the hotbar or hitting the assigned keybind. It also allows everyone in the party to quickly select certain targets by doing the same thing.
So for an Ashes example:
Our party is running a caravan and a group of players flag.
As the party lead, I player-tab (more on that later) around and quickly mark all of our priority targets. Maybe the cleric or mage are marks 1 and 2, the tank is a lower priority, etc.
Now my team knows who to focus. We aren't scrambling around once the fight starts. Attacks aren't being wasted on low priority targets. I'm able to effectively call out targets, and our party is able to effectively focus fire.
What if a ranger or rogue suddenly pops out of camo and starts attacking our cleric? I'll mark him as fast as possible, lets say as number 4, and say "Focus 4!" in discord. My party can press the corresponding button and help attack.
I mentioned player-tab. Using Aion again as an example, you were able to set different types of tab targeting. One was a general tab target like Ashes has. The other was players only. In a mob congested area, you can imagine how much better this feels when trying to pvp. I used tab for the general one, and ~ for the player one.
In conclusion, while these features help in pve and raids, I really couldn't imagine competitively pvping without them. I'd love to hear from a dev on their thoughts and if this is something being considered.
