Bug: Treasure maps - Player can not start new map

I know treasure maps are on the list of items bugged that the devs are working hard to fix. 
My question is will characters that are unable to start maps currently be able to with the next fix? I know some issue in the past have prevented characters from being able to do something at all, like caravans.
I might have just missed this being addressed else where.
