This CPU has problems with modern Unreal Engine 5 games which can result in crashes.

Hello, I have a new Alienware with an Intel Core 19-14900KF processor. I get an error message every time I open the game that says "This CPU has problems with modern Unreal Engine 5 games which can result in crashes." It asks if I want to open a link with information to potentially fix the issue. The link points to a Fortnite article :-/

I have noticed quite a bit of lag and issues with texture and I'm not sure if that has to do with my computer, the processor, or the fact that the game is in Alpha. I will say, from videos I am seeing on YouTube, not everyone is having the visual issues I am. I'd find it hard to believe that my brand new, next-to-top tier computer is the problem, but maybe there is a setting or something I am missing?

Anyone know if all of this is related or how to fix the error message?

To clarify on lag/graphical issues - I notice textures blink in and out rapidly especially if they are moving textures. The screen often stutters when I am traveling around, like its the next part of the area loading? Just seems really drastic by comparison to other games or what I am seeing on YouTube videos.

Heya, the message you're getting is an Unreal Engine message, not specific to AoC. Fortnite is part of Epic Games (creators of UE), that's probably why it's linking to that article.

Feel free to try the steps suggested in the article the message is linking to.

If you think something in AoC is a bug, feel free to bug report it in game using /bug. There's a specific bug reporting category for graphics/visuals.

Thank you for this. It’s hard to tell if it’s CPU or Alpha related. My best guess is that the game may not be fully optimized for various computer specs. I have the Alienware Aurora R16 which from my research should not be having difficulties, and it doesn’t in other games - though I also don’t think those were made using UE5. Nervous to mess with the CPU clock though I suppose lowering it may be better than raising it. Will have to test that out and if it still happens will report it in bugs. Trying my best to pinpoint where the issue is so I can give accurate feedback. Still wondering if anyone else experiences random stutters as they move around the world or weird texture/shadow glitches. I hope I’m at least not alone on this island.
