Crafting gear shall be more advantageous than looting it - currently it is not

SteapperSteapper Member, Alpha Two
In the current state of the game, it's way more advantageous to loot our gear than to craft it.
I would like to know if this is a temporary situation.

I would expect that, in a game where we are supposed to build cities, an industry, and an economy, we would loot rare components needed to craft our gear rather than to loot the gear directly.

What is the plan for the endgame? What is the plan for the midgame?

Crafted gear is still better, it’s just a little slow to catch up to combat levels. But even just right now several of the best pieces are crafted—look at Polished Tin Belt/Leggings for physical classes.

Longer term your title is the right answer.

There will be a few exceptions like one of a kind gear but for the 99% mobs will drop crafting supplies and you need to find some one to make what gear you need.
Most people never listen. They are just waiting on you to quit making noise so they can.

That's what I would expect

The problem is to get rare animal fat, which requires rare animal carcasses, to build armor molds. Among other things. The slate armor mold is a very complex process to build. So complex, that it's currently preferable to get heavy armor gear from the loots. Ok, we get uncommon heavy armor only, but since crafting the rare, or heroic heavy armor is close to impossible today, well...

I’m wearing 2 heroic Polished Tin pieces I crafted for myself and I’ve sold several sets of Rare Polished Tin Leggings to people for 7g or so. It’s not that hard.

How did you get the heroic animal fat that are needed to build the molds?
Because we could not find any.
We could find only a few rare carcasses. Very few of them.

I am close to hunter lvl 20, i got 2 x t4 fat and around 10 t3. 1 grem and 1 raven. Otter only t2 and they are ekstrem hard to hunt.

3 major changes i hope to see is, first is only t2 items to drop from mobs, second is no limits on number of artisan skills, third is, chance to drop items on dead. This would change craftet gear to be the most used, and make gahteres and crafters relevant in the game.

Why make this great world, not to use it full.

I used epic tin, blue or green molds, and green tanned otter hides.
