How playable is this game solo?

I like the art, music and other things about this game, but wonder about its solo experience. I like to just fuzt around in my MMO's - do a little crafting, exploring, etc. I understand there is global pvp and I don't care about that - I'll just avoid it.
Is anyone playing solo that might offer any insights to the experience?
Thanks.

You say you will just avoid PvP, but you don't get to make that call.
That's too bad. Anything in particular or just because the game is still alpha?
I've been on my own for 99% of my testing, and I've really enjoyed myself. However, most of that time has been dedicated to exploration, gathering, processing, and crafting. I've dabbled on the outskirts of dungeons and been in a few scrapes with some purples, but nothing heavy.
It's obvious where teams are needed, and I've been fully accepting of what I can't do alone v. in a group. So, I think if you set your sights on what you can realistically accomplish instead of expecting the game to change it's approach to appeal to a solo mindset - it's great.
Now, I have heard that P2 on Vyra has become worse in that particular aspect, with more toxicity and mob training, but from what I've also heard it's mostly a party, or at least high value spots, thing. And as a solo player ya ain't ever farming those, so I don't think it'd be too big of a problem.
I also played a tank, which is considered the worst solo archetype, and I still had a ton of fun, simply because I didn't care that I was way slower than groupped players. If you're fine just taking it slow and enjoying the game for what it is - I think you can definitely play solo and do great.
Cool, it sounds like we are like-minded as this would be my approach to the game as well. So it sounds like there is hope.
Thanks!
You can play and potentially even enjoy yourself until you hit that limit, but once you do hit it, you are most likely done with the game.
Someone like Ludullu is content with just grinding the same thing for dozens of hours, so to him, this game is solo friendly enough. However, if you are asking about it, I would assume you would not be content with grinding for hours on end - and so this game will be much less solo friendly for you.
With out knowing you personally I would say you probably wouldn't like it.
This game has about 10% of what other games have for solo players.
You could explore but you will be kept out of areas that guilds don't want you in.
You can dabble in crafting but you wont ever get past Journeyman.
The game also has a hardcore lite aspect where you drop materials on death.
You could grind mobs but it will be neither fun nor rewarding.
And you can't avoid the PvP due to you being by yourself, people will go out of their way to kill you because of the lack of repercussions, and the potential rewards.
You'll need other players for the items you can't process, the gear you can't craft, the content you can't beat, the levelling spots you want to use, to defend your caravans, and if you want a shot at becoming Mayor.
If that doesn't bother you, then carry on being solo. If you work up enough money, you can get around the processing and crafting issues by just buying what you need.
Thanks to everyone for the feedback!
Probably a wise call for now.
By all means though, check back in later(perhaps when the game enters beta) and see if things have changed to better suit you.
If you have not spent cash on AoC then it maybe best to wait a couple years for launch and then just spend the $15/month subscription cost and see if there are enough activities fully fleshed out for your solo style. The game could use casual solo players spending $15/month but that segment of the market may not enjoy the PvX nature of the overall situation.
It's more fun with friends, but it's quite easy to roam around solo.
If you're going against a little boss for a quest or the like, other people who might want the same thing tend to invite you to a group to take it down together, which is very rewarding~
It depends on what you mean by soloing. Do you just want to entertain yourself and run around the world doing PvE and MAYBE crafting? You can do that.
Crafting is super hard to do solo. But you could make 3 alts I guess.
If you want to PvP you'll be hopelessly outclassed by anyone in a guild. Or not get ganked, if ganking is an issue in your node/server.
Although, again, maybe if you have 5 alts and can fully craft your own gear, I guess you could have great gear. Good lord that would be a hardcore investment, though.
