Flight paths GOOD Teleport BAD

I love the huge open world, it's very immersive. However, I think something will eventually change and I was wondering everyone's thoughts on where development may be going. I believe flight paths give amazing showcases of the beautiful world the developers created. I believe teleporting (unless a summon from a SUMMONER) destroys immersion. Even summoner mafia's connecting nodes through player effort would be pretty cool. I realize we have to teleport in death, but outside of that I am strongly against any teleportation. Hopping on a bus or plane, like real life, is a different story. These features made for some of the best PvP moments I have ever had. There is nothing like fighting on a zeppelin or boat as it takes off, narrowly separating you from a few of your attackers.

Anyway, what is probably going to be the end state based on previous communication, and what are your thoughts?

I believe there will be flight paths between level 6 nodes planned and teleports from super select nodes I think level 6 scientific nodes

Things are not as static in this game as they are in wow so I'm not sure if designated flight paths which take time to travel between could reliably work in all circumstances.

I agree that something like flight paths where it shows off the art of the world is more scenic and gives a sense of a greater world, but I don't think teleportation destroys immersion as long as there is a good in-world reason why it works that way.

I would love some kind of in game boat or carriage system operated by NPC's. Everquest boats did not break the need to travel in game at all, they were an experience all their own. It would be very cool if there was some kind of stagecoach you could purchase a ride on that traveled at decent in game speed that was comparable to very fast in game mounts. Like a stagecoach pulled by 8 horses would be hella cool. I don't know about flight paths like in WoW where every little city has a flightpath, but a flight path option to a major node in a different biome would be cool.

Teleportation within game could be cool as well within limits. Long cooldowns due to a stat debuff after being teleported, for instance. Only being able to teleport from discrete locations, and needing multiple people, like Warlock summoning in WoW. I'm thinking of the teleportation spires in Shadows of Luclin, where there were like four total places you could get in game summons, the summons went off only every 15 minutes, and you could only go to one of those 4 locations. You still had a significant amount of sitting around and waiting, then walking, to get anywhere.

It does seem like this is all within the scope of what they are planning, potentially.

Tangentially, I will admit I'm a *little* sad that flying mounts will be something extremely limited and not something most players will be able to experience. It seems odd to limit it to only Mayors, and also the flying mounts exist in the game world as huntable journeyman level animals. When you train them, do they just... not fly anymore? I want to see Verra from high above the ground T_T

I would prefer NO fast travel options at all. Even if limited to the "family" feature, TBC. Fast travel its too easy to abuse and leverage in pve and pvp content. Even the flying mounts we have in the game atm are too imbalanced for many reasons.

I wonder if transporting other players could be a thing you could do in-game? Like a caravan system but for players? Kinda like how Foxhole has players bring each other to the front lines if they're too far from spawn.

This is a very narrow view. How are they detrimental to PvE content? How so in PvP? They are literally in pretty much all MMOS, even those with a high focus on PvP. Worried people may all TP on a specific point at the exact same time to gank a passing caravan? Make it so you cannot engage in PvP for a few minutes after taking a TP. for every problem there is a solution. Just need to be a little creative. Find potential abuse>come up with a fix. EZ.

If you fall into the "it's gonna create problems so let's not do it" mentality, you are doomed. This is how you kill creativity and foster a culture that drives laziness instead of fostering innovation. Very dangerous.

I don't think that would be practical once the full world is released. I would be curious to get your take on this topic once we have all experienced that full world scope for a while.
