hi, first of all sorry for my bad english and myabe sorry for my bad emotions in this post but this is how i feel right now after returning to aoc after being dissapointed with game performance..

in november i made post about my problems with game performance: https://forums.ashesofcreation.com/discussion/63743/im-tryin-so-hard-to-like-aoc-but/p1

you dont need to read that post tldr i was mad and i acepted fact that i had too big expectations. BUT...

i returned to aoc today after almost 2 months, many things was added to game but my experience is 100% same as in november... i have 4090, i have game instaled on m.2 disc generaly my pc runs everything butter smooth i play games with raytracing etc.. to make it short i have very powerfull pc and i have no problems in any very demanding game... but in aoc my ingame experience is TRAGEDY and im not even overreacting on this... i have problems to kill simple mob because game is stuttering (laging maybe) so much it makes my game unplayable... i even droped setings down and im using upscaling EVEN THO GAME IS NOT LOOKING THAT GOOD TO BE THIS DEMANDING !!!! but ok its alpha etc etc.. so i droped my setings. today after this pause i launched game ane everything game does, it does with stuttering ...
stuttering in character selection screen for no reason... but ok... i go in game... game is loading.. black screen for 1 minute then loading, loading ends , game is in lag for another minute... now textures STARTING to load... (what was loading if im loading alll textures after loading finishes????) ok textures loaded. i turn camera around.... lag.. ok world behind me wasnt loaded maybe so i stand on one place for minute and rotate camera so everything loads... everything is smooth so im loke ok lets go.. i make one step, lag.. turn around, lag.. jump, lag.. cast spell lag .. mobs are teleporting on me and i have realy hard time to kill lvl 3 mob .. i die.. go back want to loot my body.. nothing... not even eror message just presing F and nothing... out of nowhere im in fight with skeleton that just wasnt there milisecond ago but now is killing me ... because im in lag from trying to loot my body.. another death... with those deaths there is new loadings with new lags and texture loads... at this point im turning off game after 10 minutes mad af and dissapointed that my experience is same like in november.. thats cool there is new content but im asking why.. why you dont fix base game first... i knowe there is players that dont have this problems i talked with people about this but most of them have same thing in common.. they dont have powerfull pc so they play at reduced setings.. and im not even playing on native and cinematic anymore but i have same issues again no matter if i play native or upscaled.. i played game for 10 minutes . got mad af and i have zero desire to launch game again.. i want to play this game and i want to like it .. but everytime i launch it, im just dissapointed in performance.. and i want to repeat one thing... game is not even looking that good to be this demanding... i will try again in few months but since you are not focusing on these problems.. instead of asdding new content.. i allready know how it will go when i try again in few months and it makes me realy mad.. i want to love it but every gameplay is tragedy for me. i dont want to sht on game , i think it WILL BE good game. but there is something wrong at its core.

not gonna lie. im desperate for some dev reply.. i think its not normal what is happening to me. i bought 375 dollar pack and i was hyped to the roof for any info any livestream and even had A2 countdown as my browser homepage.... since alpha was released. i didnt even make it to lvl 15 on any character... because of these problems.. game plays so bad for me that its very frustrating to even thinking about "hey lets play aoc now" because i know what is going to happen.. its allways same, i start game get very dissapointed and frustrated and turn off game after 10 to 20 minutes with no desire to play. i cant even imagine being in dungeon/raid or pvp scenario with this performance.. and worst thing about this is that i feel im just screaming for help but no one listen or cares. soon there will be rogue class that i wanted to be my main but when rogue will release i will go in game again and i will turn it off again after 10 minutes because there is no focus to make game run better , there is focus of adding deserts etc.. please help me

Ok this is not a game it's a test environment. In game development you add content and systems in layers and slowly. As you do so, you will get new bugs and performance problems. We just had a huge update. Now is the time to fix what's broken. As testers we report and IS fixes them. Once that's done the process starts all over again. Till one day, all systems and content is in the game and most bugs and performance issues are addressed. That's what an Alpha is. If you can't take that process come back some time in July or Aug as we get closer to bate. That's the polishing phase. When proformance will be the main focus. Or stick around and help us report these things as they pop up.

you see the problem is. that my performance is SO BAD (5 stutters in 10 secconds!!!! when im fighting) that i cant even go in game and report bugs etc because im fighting with basic things like loading map or interacting with spells and mobs etc.... i understand its alpha, i understand there is bugs, but i have some problems with game that is not global to all players. and since other players dont have these problems then no one cares about my performance issues.. i see videos people playing dungeons etc and thats absolutely unreal for me because i have literally problem to kill one simple mob..

I get ya. After this update I can't even play the game. It 100% crashes windows and I have to hard reboot. I have turn on my crash logs and have played and crashed enough times to have six crash logs. I will be sending them today and will be waiting for IS team to figure it out. We are here for data, that's it. If we get some fun and learn the game. That's a side benefit. We are here helping build a game. Welcome to Alpha.

but that doesnt explain why other players are able to play group content while im unable fo fight one mob alone somewhere on open field.. i need to fight in a way that i dont use camera movement or jumping or moving.. because if i do i get stutter and next seccond im dead.

That's what testing is about. You can also go to the Discord under the altitude section and search the tech support channel to see if someone else with your problems bound effects. Also on this form there is the bug reporting Channel. Go through the different subjects that look like they might address your problem. Find out what they did to fix their problem. If you find that fixed your problem report it. If you don't find a fix for your problem report that on those channels. The staff is constantly reading and looking at those things and making adjustments or asking you for logs and telling you how to do that so that they can fix the game.

Probably guess most of them follow the steps that I listed above. I've had to come to the forms many times to find out how to fix a problem that I'm having that I can't play. It always gets adjusted and fixed either by me or by the Intrepid Studios team. Once again I'm in a situation where I can't play. I'm taking the steps as an alpha tester to get that fixed so that others don't have that problem when the game launches. That's what Alpha Testing is about.

    What is your PC spec?
Is your PC a "gaming" laptop by any chance?
    What's your screen resolution?
Is the game installed on SSD?
What is your GPU driver version?
    Have you tried to repair/reinstall?
Have you tried deleting the game's shader cache?

When you're in the game try turning off different settings lowering settings raising settings play with different combinations of your settings in game. See if something improves or gets worse. If you find something that actually improves your performance. Report that

i ofcourse tried that. weird thing is that i get +-same fps no matter if i play 4k native or upsacale.. same fps with frame gen same fps on cinematic or epic or high and stutters are there everytime no matter how i set it up... i was thinking if my internet could be problem since im on 5g BUT i play alot of valorant and that game is very demanding for stable connection and i have no problems in valorant) so i think 5g is not problem. it can be but it shouldnt be

I would also check this part of the forums

    https://forums.ashesofcreation.com/categories/alpha-two-bug-reporting

Read and look for people that have similar problems. See if they found fixes. Add your thoughts to posts that you can help IS see your having the same problem. They may reach out to you if they need more info.

My question - since you are talking about stuttering as your main issue - what is your ping to the server?

I ask this because you aren't actually giving proper data on things like FPS in Ashes or in other games (just the subjective qualifier of "smooth"), which suggests to me that you aren't measuring FPS you ae just going by feel. Client/server lag would explain your issues fairly well.

i dont know where to get that ping.. but still i play alot valorant and there are so many things happening in few milisec...it must be very demanding on connection and everything needs to be pixel perfect and i have no problem with internet in valorant or any other game (5G mobile connected to pc via usb).

i have 4090 i play basicaly 99% of games at native 4k at 144 fps (limited by monitor) (not counting raytracing on, if i have it then i use dlss quality set.). in aoc i get, on high to cinematic 50 to 80 native and 70 to 90 upscaled "quality" usualy dlss does much more than this... i play alot of games, i like to try new games and on this setup i have no problems with any of them. only with aoc..

  • The problem might be pretty simple. Run the game and check if its running on your Graphic card, or on your built in intel card. Since no matter how great your pc is, if it doesnt run the game on your Nvidea, then the game will be unplayable.

its pointless for many reasons... first of all i dont even have cpu integrated gpu.. and im talking about playing at 4k epic setings.. i would get 1 fps on integrated gpu if it even launched the game.

    Everyone has integrated gpu. Everyone!

From your comment that you wait 1 min for the world to load in front of you, seems like 1 fps to me.

But if you checked - than guess its not that. Just trying to help :)

This is very much not true.

Any Intel CPU with an F or X suffix will not have integrated graphics.

AMD is a little less obvious, but there are CPU's in every Zen generation so far that have no integrated graphics.

Your original thought that this could be the issue is a long shot, but is indeed a possibility.

Edit to add; I'm still waiting for the OP to post their ping to the game server. Not just a snapshot, but playing the game with it open and looking for spikes.

@GANKLORD Just a tip. Add your thoughts into ChatGPT and have them rewrite it for you in a casual tone. I am foreign as well :)(But live in the US)

    Example:

"Hey guys, I jumped back into Ashes of Creation today after almost two months, excited to see all the new content. But honestly, my experience is exactly the same as it was in November—unplayable due to stuttering and lag.

For context, I’m running a 4090, with the game installed on an M.2 drive. My PC handles ray tracing and the most demanding games without an issue. But in AoC, it’s a mess. I’m not exaggerating—it’s a struggle just to kill a basic mob because of how much the game stutters. I’ve lowered my settings, used upscaling, and still—same problems. The game doesn’t even look that demanding, so why is it performing this badly?

Here’s what happens every time I log in:
    1. Character selection screen stutters.
    2. Loading screen takes forever, followed by a minute of in-game lag.
    3. Textures load in after the loading screen finishes—so what was loading during that time?
    4. Turning the camera causes lag. Moving? Lag. Casting a spell? Lag. Mobs literally teleport onto me, making fights a nightmare.
    5. Looting my body doesn’t work—no error, no response, just pressing "F" and nothing happens.
    6. Dying means more loading screens, more lag, and more textures reloading.
    7. After 10 minutes, I turned the game off—frustrated and disappointed. It’s great that new content is being added, but I have to ask: why is the core game still in this state?

I get that some players don’t have these issues, but from talking with others, it seems like those running lower-end PCs (on reduced settings) have a better experience. Meanwhile, no matter if I run the game native or upscaled, I get the same stutters.

I want to love this game. I want to play it. But every time I try, I just get frustrated. I’ll check back in a few months, but since performance issues aren’t being prioritized, I already know what to expect—and that’s what makes me mad. This game has the potential to be great, but something at its core is seriously wrong. Hope this gets addressed sooner rather than later."

not gonna lie. im desperate for some dev reply.. i think its not normal what is happening to me. i bought 375 dollar pack and i was hyped to the roof for any info any livestream and even had A2 countdown as my browser homepage.... since alpha was released. i didnt even make it to lvl 15 on any character... because of these problems.. game plays so bad for me that its very frustrating to even thinking about "hey lets play aoc now" because i know what is going to happen.. its allways same, i start game get very dissapointed and frustrated and turn off game after 10 to 20 minutes with no desire to play. i cant even imagine being in dungeon/raid or pvp scenario with this performance.. and worst thing about this is that i feel im just screaming for help but no one listen or cares. soon there will be rogue class that i wanted to be my main but when rogue will release i will go in game again and i will turn it off again after 10 minutes because there is no focus to make game run better , there is focus of adding deserts etc.. please help me

So I didn't read too far with the replies, but hope this helps.
I use a 4070 and I also had terrible stutters and when relogging that should smooth it out, but after into 20 minutes it would start to have more lag and the input delay would increase.

So, of course this is an alpha and there will always be performance issues, but I learned that turning down the reflections helps tremendously. I set that setting to medium and kept Global illumination on High and everything else on epic or cinematic and has been extremely smooth.

Some stutters here and there from server load and loading up places like Carphin but overall really good results.

make sure your monitor's hertz are set to the highest as well. I play on 1440p though and not 4k because that's mega demanding for an mmo like this. Again I hope this helps because overall it's a fun game to get into even with all the bugs.

Finally got my problems resolved. Seems Ashes does not do well if you have a game overlay enabled. You can have that though Nvidia and Xbox app on windows. Disable them will make for better performance. Maybe your problem as well.

I have alot of these problems too, some things that helped me are

Stay away from cities and nodes, I'm almost positive these just have so many memory leaks that it's almost unplayable, I experience what you wrote almost any time I go near a node

You may also have capped fps, NVIDIA does not recognise AOC as a game, so double check it's not capped at 20 fps, also it may not be selecting your proper graphics card when launching

Your computer is better than mine and I can play the game for the most part without a ton of issues, I just can't spend time in cities so you should be able to play realistically, good luck getting a response from a Dev though lol, better off trying on discord
