Give dps a purpose

Iv played games in the past where you make the dps roles more engaging due to them having a purpose in a party. For example, you could give rangers an ability that makes them better at pulling mobs for the party. It could be some like “ when hitting your target you are unable to be targeted by other mobs for x amount of time. For rogue you could give them the ability to add their threat onto the tank if they are hitting from behind the tank. Not sure if it’s already in but fighters could reduce the amount of damage a target can do with disarm or something. Mages could have silences so mobs can’t cast spells for a certain amount of time. These are just a few ideas that could make the dps classes more enjoyable and less brain dead than slapping your face on the keyboard and rolling around. What do you guys think? Do y’all have any cool suggestions for dps having different roles?

some things like that exist. most of it being some kind of interrupt to stop a mob from doing X. I like the idea of a rogue adding threat to a tanks table. A silence is that acts as a cast prevention is good to.

I've assumed the classes are barebones just enough for testing. I really hope they are because they're very linear and narrow. But the main class might supposed to be this way and the we'll see more diversity with them when archtypes come out.

I know they're taking input for the classes. So filling out what you'd like to see in that class in that forum would be a great idea.

ranger are the best puller imo since u run them back and drop a root field right there so they run into the root for tanks to easily pick them off you :P

I agree that is really good but you don’t specifically need to be the one pulling to do this. I think the fact that most everyone runs a range on the off hand the ranger needs something special to make them the puller.

i do hope we see more thing in the future at least for higher end content, doors or chests that need to be lock picked (rogues) buttons that need to be pressed on platforms/ledges that only rangers can make the jump via airstrikes/disengage and so on that opens doors. Illusions walls that can only be despelled by mages, traps physical ones for rogues and magic ones for a magic class like mages or summoners and so on.

I feel these kinda thing might be a thing later on with higher quality content i hope

That’s actually a cool idea and I think I recall them saying something like this. I feel like this helps feel more useful out of combat but I think you could also do this in combat. It helps the leveling process feel less mundane.

Summoners could get an evac spell, Everquest had one for wizards where they could teleport there group to the dungeon entrance, was a 10 second cast that get the group out of a shit situation :D if dungeons get bigger and deeper it be a good spell to add to the pool of ability for a class
