I don't want desert maps. Stop turning my faded maps into desert maps!

As someone that has done well over 50 treasure maps, and possibly up to 100, I have some pretty strong opinions on Desert maps.

In my opinion, Desert maps are the worst. Dealing with the high-level mobs, the lawless zones, using skills to move up rock ledges and then waiting for the cooldown to end so I can use that skill again, not to mention the materials that are in the treasure chest don't match the quality of the maps (novice level materials in a rare quality map) makes Desert maps a time sink where the juice isn't worth the squeeze.

At the Scribing station, clicking on Treasure Map in the left pane will show either “Novice Riverlands Restored Treasure Map” or “Novice Desert Restored Treasure Map”. Clicking on this recipe SHOULD allow you to craft that type of map. However, when you click on that treasure map in the left pain, the main crafting panel might say Riverlands or might say Desert. This is seemingly random. Exiting out of the station will reset both panels. Getting both to say Riverlands SHOULD produce a Riverlands map. But alas this is not the case. Even if both say Riverlands, a Desert map can be crafted.

Is this bugged or is this intentional? Why make this random? As mentioned before, Desert maps are pretty much useless for low-level characters. Sure, they can sell them or give them to guildies, but that is removing content from that low-level player when simply allowing us to control which map is produced would alleviate this. Not to mention, the materials and glint in these treasure maps are extremely beneficial in leveling up artisan skills, especially considering how much gold is needed for some (looking at you animal husbandry).

We should have more control over which map we restore. If the Scribing station window says Riverlands, then a Riverlands map should be restored. If the Scribing station window says Desert, then a Desert map should be restored. Either fix the bug that is causing this, or take out the RNG that is causing this.

See the screenshot for an example of where Riverlands is chosen in the left panel, Riverlands shows in the main crafting panel, however a Desert map is produced.

After doing some research, I found something interesting. I never notice the Possible Results option in the upper right corner. In my limited research, choosing the middle option produced a Riverlands map when before, with the first option selected, it was random. I'd get either a Riverlands map or Desert map.

So now my question is this. Does selecting one of these have any influence on which map is being restored, or is this purely informational?

So it appears the above post is informational only. The only thing I can deduce is that the "Possible Results" shows us that we have a 2/3 chance of getting a Riverlands map and a 1/3 chance of getting a Desert map since the first two icons are for the Riverlands and the third icon is for the Desert.

The problem with the desert in general is mob placement. Unlike in the Riverlands, mob density is really high and often gets in the way of movement or combat in lawless. It's pretty bad, despite the recent update. I really hope they revamp the mob placement, lower the pointless mob density (it just adds to performance issues) and create nice POIs for solo, small group and larger group farm.
