About quest levels and the solo questing experience

Greetings community,

I am fairly new to the game - first char lvl 11 Bard on Lyneth - and I'd like to share my experience while questing and get some feedback. Let me preface this by telling you that I've beend playing MMOs or SPRPGs for years.

1. ) Quest pointers - I've come across quests where I did not really know where to go. Neither was there a good description of where to head, nor was there a marker on the map. If there was a person named that had to be spoken to, I still did not know where to find that person.

Am I missing something? Like is there a way to find out more about quests or ask specific nps about locations on the map that are not specifically marked? Or does AoC aim for me to roam around everywhere, talk to every npc and find what I am looking for "by stumbling upon it"? So more like "use your eyes and head, rather than following dots on a map"... so to speak

2.) Quest levels - In the journal every quest has a number to its left, that indicates the quest level, I gather. The same symbol and font is used in your tracker ui to correlate the tracked quests 1-10 to a map marker. There are quests that have a quest level below my own level that I can't do because the mobs in the quest area are too strong and there are quests with a level below mine that would have me run quite a far distance across the map at a fairly early point in the game.

Am I mistaken in thinking the number associated with a quest in the journal means "be this level to take on the quest"? Does AoC want me to travel quite far ealry on for me to see much of the area quickly or should I wait until later because the number which I thought was quest level isn't acutally that?

3.) Solo questing - While questing I've struggled with quests that I deemed appropriate for my level because the mobs were fairly strong and often so close together that fighting one at a time was hard. Or sometimes I managed to fight my way through and then got surprised by the quick mob respawn times so that I had to bail outta there. Other quests where the mobs were moderately strong didn't really have an impact on my gained experience.

Should I look for groups to do questing more or should I differently evaluate what quest to do next and if so by what metric?

If you took the time to read that, thanks so much in advance and have a great day.

Sunny greetings,
Silly

All of those questions can be answered with "it's an Alpha".

Text needs to be rewritten to be more understandable, though Intrepid are going for a more "realistic"/classic quest approach where you'll need to read the quest text or NPC dialogue to know where to go and what to do. But yes, the text itself can be quite confusing at times. And with some quests being completely broken, the confusion only grows.

Iirc some of the quests point towards starred mobs (i.e. elites), so you either need to be overlvled to clear it or do it in a party. Indicators for those kinds of quests should also become a thing, if they're not planned already.
