Blocking Interrupts/Cancels Grapple Pull - Needs Urgent Fix!

AurelliusAurellius Member, Alpha Two
I'm writing this post to highlight a critical and incredibly frustrating issue with the Tank's Grapple skill. It seems there's a bug or unintended interaction where players can completely negate the pull effect simply by blocking.

The Problem:

When you successfully land Grapple on a target, if they time their block correctly (either holding block as they are being pulled, or potentially blocking just before the pull initiates), the pull effect is cancelled entirely. The target remains in their original position, effectively escaping the grapple without using a dedicated CC break ability.

Why This Needs Immediate Attention:

-It Breaks a Core Tank Ability: Grapple is one of the few unique utility/control skills tanks have. Having its primary function (the pull) nullified so easily undermines its entire purpose.
-High Risk, Zero Reward: Using Grapple often requires the tank to commit positionally, sometimes putting themselves at considerable risk. It also typically has a long cooldown. For this high-risk maneuver to be defeated by simply holding the block button is frankly unacceptable and makes the skill feel worthless.
-Laughably Easy Counter: Blocking is a fundamental, spammable defensive mechanic available to almost everyone. It shouldn't be a hard counter to a specific, high-cooldown ability like Grapple's pull. This feels like a bug, not intended counterplay.
-Exacerbates Tank Weakness: Let's be honest, tanks aren't exactly top-tier in the current meta. We often struggle for impact. Grapple is one of the few tools that should allow us to make plays, control positioning, and isolate targets. This bug strips away a significant part of our already limited utility.

This isn't about players skillfully dodging or using a cleanse/CC break; it's about a basic defensive stance apparently bugging out and cancelling a key ability effect. It feels terrible to use a significant cooldown, land the skill, only to have it fizzle because the target held right-click at the right moment.

Request:

I urge the developers to investigate this interaction immediately and implement a fix. Grapple's pull needs to function reliably and shouldn't be interrupted by a simple block. This is crucial for tank viability and the overall balance of combat interactions.

Has anyone else experienced this frequently? Please share your observations.

Thanks for reading.

This is the first I'm hearing it be related to blocking. Have you done testing on this?

There was significant testing done a while ago that basically showed if the enemy is moving away from you, the grapple wouldn't work.

Whatever it is, it definitely needs to be fixed.

Why? Getting grappled usually means a death sentence. A timed blocking or dodging should be a counter to a grapple.

As long as tanks can cancel other people gap closes and escapes with block to keep things balanced, sure. 100 cancel on an enemy mages blink or a rogue sprint or a bards slide just by hitting block? That's the mechanic you are endorsing.
