Ashes of creation may be the closest simulation to war ever achieved by an MMO
It just occurred to me and I had to put this thought out into the either. I know it's usually a bad idea to express ideas for no reason to the internet but I figured what the heck. Ashes of creation may potentially be the closest simulation to war from a social standpoint that I've ever seen. What I mean is That this is the 1st game I've seen that combines territory with culture. Most of the time when you see games fight for territory, It's over some meaningless polygon grid. Yes you get territory but it's often hollow and meaningless to get that territory. Maybe you get your hands on a few resources but that's about it. In final fantasy 14 You can clean territory and create culture. How is there in fixed locations become places that people can come and visit And experience player driven content. All sorts of clubs and virtual bars and things of that nature Have been made and been made Into enjoyable experiences. There's no threat of losing those experiences unless the owner willingly gives it up. But in ashes of creation, There are fights for territory that include housing fixtures. And that creates a new layer because now people are gonna be fighting for the culture that players have built or they lose it. So suddenly it's about people fighting for the culture they built Instead of just meaningless territory. And then kind of all for it.
PS I'm working on a pretty bad voice to text system so sorry for the errors.
