Glorious Alpha Two Testers!

Alpha Two testing is currently taking place five days each week. More information about Phase II and Phase III testing schedule can be found here

If you have Alpha Two, you can download the game launcher here, and we encourage you to join us on our Official Discord Server for the most up to date testing news.

It's been 2 years...

...since I last checked on the progress of this game.

In the meanwhile I changed 3 jobs, visited over 17 countries, changed my cars and styles, fulfilled some life goals.

Now I once again have time for gaming, so I come to check on AoC...and from what I see here...nothing changed? Same tests and unfinished stuff. Promises to release game "within a year"...as usual :)

Does it even worth waiting still? Anything I am missing? (just don't bring the entire ongoing testing stuff - I did not partake but I watch some of the streams, not very impressive so far).

Who exactly told you it would be out "within a year"? They haven't made a promise like that since way before 2020.

And if you don't consider a massive working map with 8k people on it "a change" then I dunno what even could be.

This is pretty amazing, honestly. (o_o)

Ohhh, a LOT has changed. For Example the Alpha Two finally started and gives Everyone like me who didn't know about the current state of Development valuable looks into where the Game is currently. And it's growing neatly and is about to get hammered into Existence over the Course of this Year and the next Year.

Oh, DEFINITELY. Between late last February to late March and the Start of the Alpha Two in late October of 2024, it looks like Development was standing still because Sir Steven and his Team were solely programming behind the Scenes and all of the Alpha Two was only playing in the Kae'lar Riverlands.

But since late February to March, the Sandsquall Desert came added to the Western Continent and now the Tropics are in there - plus the Jundark was introduced, too. The Landscapes are on some Places still a little bit weird-shaped because they are still not 100% finished,

and they must of Course be filled with Quests and Node-Structures as well - but the Alpha Two is now growing at a rather quick rate. Which personally i love to see.

The " Naval Content " was introduced -> is being programmed as it is of Course still completely unfinished -> and THREE. WEEKS. after it got started being introduced into the Alpha Two -> i got see to see a "Kraken" with a FULL BODY which can attack Ships already.

I am "still" waiting for Sea of Thieves to have a Kraken with a full Body ingame which can attack our Ships.

You can safely say that the Game will not reach the Beta-State until the Middle to End of 2026 -> but it is definitely worth looking into it and waiting for it.

I've read the news, rumors etc. What I am more interested is what you guys personally think of beta state and how''s it going?

Well it is does sound impressive in terms of development, but it is nothing revolting for MMOs in general. Pretty standard number. Not saying it is bad - but considering their ambition and the number of regions in game it may not be enough.

Also, how was it for you as a player? Were there many lags? What was the biggest PvP so far, was it laggy also?

I mean that was always my biggest fear about this game - devs seem to be on the right way regarding the mechanics, but if they fail at optimization, especially for more low-end machines, it can be pretty bad (especially in terms of maintaning online after launch).

It really isn't a standard number.

All up, you seem quite misinformed - just in general.

It's not in Beta state. It's in Alpha state.

What could an answer to this question possibly change for you?
What would "stop waiting" look like? Waiting is an inherently passive action. What has "waiting" constituted of so far, that you'd need to make any changes to? Have you been saving your virginity for Ashes? I hope you're not seeing any other games!
Questions like this are the most blatant self-report that you're the kid on the back seat blaring "ARE WE THERE YET?" at his parents. And you somehow seem to think wearing an adult's suit while doing it makes it less pathetic, rather than more.
The only one who can validate you for all the posts you didn't write is you.

Welcome back! Totally get the feeling, two years is a long time, and it's easy to assume not much has changed when just skimming the surface.

But honestly, a lot has happened. Instead of going by scattered rumors or unofficial takes, I really recommend checking the official forums, the developer livestreams, and especially the community wiki (https://ashesofcreation.wiki) you'll see the progress is real. Systems like nodes, crafting, combat, world events, and UI have all undergone major changes and polish.

That said, it’s still in Alpha, and yes, there’s a road ahead, but for a project of this scale, that’s expected. Ashes is not a theme park MMO; it’s trying to build something ambitious and dynamic, and that takes time.

If you give it a deeper look, you might be surprised at how far it’s come.
