i did too and it was so nice , i did some quests that gave me and made me craft stuff from weapons to potions to artisan tools after that i easily went and got stuff from around the starting camp area and bought some from the auction house and crafted myself a full newbie gear and more artisan tools in like an hour , took a few tries to look at what i need for items and go back and forth to get them took about an hour or so and that i would of not been able to beat the first boss or at least would of taken me a lot longer without it.
meanwhile if i wanted to craft 1 piece of a newbie gear in ashes it will take me an hour to even know where i craft them at then a whole day to even know how to craft 1 piece with how convoluted and overblown the crafting and its steps are then probably another few days to even know where to get its mats and well an infinite amount of time to get any of these items without counting the travel time between all of that BS lmao , might exaggerated a bit but it feels like that
Yes, but you are leveling professions, arguably as important as character level, if not more.
Why wait? Do buy orders. Although granted that accumulating node tickets is useless this phase.
Yes, but they are lacking in professions at this point, or they are just spending more time. Many of the people that "grind to 25" in the first weekend end up quitting the game. Rushing to the "end", just to quit after "winning" completely misses the point of playing a game. Also, the start of this phase was REALLY easy to kill monsters and the drop rates on bosses was high. So basically, the people who rushed bosses and mob grinds in the first week or two had it 1000x easier than everyone else. Current state of the game would prevent that.
This is definitely an experience that makes people less exciting about logging in the next day.
Yup, hear you there. These days I gather or kill small mobs while group forming. Aint going to stand around "waiting" anymore.
The cure to that this phase was to kill the level 10 bosses during your teen phase. You should have items like hornhexers, flayers fleshripper, etc. before hitting 20. If not, your grind is going to suck so bad.
I just skip quests because I dont typically like these kinds of things. Some people enjoy quest puzzles. To each their own.
Yup. You basically need to have about 2 hours available if you want to go mob grind in a PUG.
It goes alot faster if you boss kill in your teens and get the level 10 drops from named mobs. Then make sure your PUG has done the same. Dont party with people who just "mob grind" in parties to level and never get items.
Again, this isnt so bad if you also get items during your leveling process. It also breaks up the monotony of the mob grind.
This phase, the main way to get gear was killing bosses. Every other path was a time trap, unless you can buy cheap items on the market. If you werent killing bosses for gear, then that explains why you had a terrible phase 2.5.
Yes it was broken, but it was also focusing on different things. This phase played out mostly with boss farming as the thing to do. Teams would fight over boss kills. Sometimes it would be fun and sometimes it would be boring.
Alot of what people think are exploits or breaking the rules simply arent. Then they play in ways that are innefficient and complain about it. Dont know if thats your case, but I've seen it alot. I dont listen to what any player says about what is an exploit or what you are allowed to do. If its in the game, and i think it will get me ahead, I do it. If the game devs dont like it, they can tell me themselves. Most of the players are wrong about what is allowed and what isnt allowed. Ignore them and think for yourself.
All of what you said is truly painful and I can agree. Thankfully I'm a Test Manager IRL and know that the end product won't look nor feel like this.
My current pain point is that I have a pretty good PC and can't run the game in any populated area w/o blue-screen-crashing out.
Yes, optimizations come usually in the open/closed beta phases (which we're nowhere near yet), but I do feel a certain degree of optimization should be baselined in order for people with moderately high-end PC's to properly test the game.
It flippin' better.
Otherwise Ashes " WILL " - die the usual Death after like Three to Nine Weeks after Release. Which would be a real Shame if we take the massive Preparation-Campaign into Account which was created to slowly bring the Game onto it's way since the likes of 2016.
I can predict this with a 100% Confidence rate, if soul-less, soul-crushing grinds and constant MASS. MURDERS. of Mobs in random Places are the only way to level up your Character.

I am in the guildless Guild so to say, lol. But i won't give up. I will find my fitting Guild "one Day".
I've tested aspects of the game that I am particularly well equipped to test, and passed my comments on directly to the developers involved.
With that done, I look around at what is happening in the community and ask myself "why bother?".
These forums are the only place the community has to hold real discussion. Reddit is a cesspool, as always, and Discord is just not designed to facilitate long form discussion. With that in mind, Intrepid only really communicate with the community via these two avenues, completely ignoring their own forum.
It's almost as if Steven is afraid of getting involved in actual discussion about the game - he has posted exactly three times in the past two years here.
When you look over communication from Intrepid, they are posting here asking for things from us, but on Discord specifically (and Reddit from what I have been told) talking about aspects of the game that not only have never been mentioned, but that are contrary to what has been communicated to us in the past.
When this is the communication we are getting here, it leads me to my above conclusion of "why bother?".
If those of us that opt to be a part of this games community on these forums as it is the ONLY place where actual discussion can be had are to be treated as second class testers, why should we spend our time testing?
It would be one thing if no information or discussion was coming from Intrepid, but when it is, and it is only coming on Discord where actual discussion on a topic isn't really viable, jt leaves those of us here as being second class testers.
Don't forget that the Livestream Q&A was also removed from these official forums and restricted to the third party platform Twitch, so that only people currently able to access the livestream at that very moment can participate.
Isn't Vaknar the only person that checks out the forums? It wouldn't be hard to at least delegate some other senior decision makers to be a bit more vocal on the forums and it would also encourage more activity if people felt they were going to get some reciprocation.
All while, yesterday we had a spam thread up for 8 hours and today we've had one for an entire hour already...
Who cares about forum? That's right, fucking no one.
I do!
Was supposed to be an ABBA gif, but it didn't work on my phone.
You'll just have to imagine it.
