Armor Appearance

DruleyDruley Member, Alpha Two, Early Alpha Two
I know each race has it own specific armor. A suggestion I have is that whichever race makes that armor it keeps that appearance if another race were to equip that armor. So for example if I were a dwarf and wanted to have the Vek armor appearance I would need to get the armor crafted from a Vek.

Racial appearance of gear sets is tied to the character model of that race.[43]
When you say, what if I'm an Orc but want to look like an Elf and I want my Eagle set to be the Elf representation? Well the issue becomes there that Orcs have a different organic model. You know, their body is different than that of the Elf. So, from a scope-creep standpoint, it's one thing to add different influences that represent the cultures that are donning the armor; it's another thing to adapt each influence as a matrix that can be worn pretty much by everything. From a scope perspective, that's a very difficult task for the character artists to tackle. So instead what we've done is, in order to facilitate a variety of cultural representation between the races but allow for the sharing of assets like different armor sets, we give different representations of those armor sets to each race.[43] – Steven Sharif

Sounds cool as an Idea, but what Ludullu linked will most likely be enforced a 100%.

Nah dude... people including me think the races look to similar and the world need more flavour. When they create something that is gonna add uniqueness to the game i would support that even though i get your point. Even if some specific sets is gonna look cooler transmog is still a thing.

I think its perfectly fine if people want to look cool or unique and I know a lot of people will enjoy seeing those sets but I also think players should have the option to turn skins off. Not everyone wants to see flashy skins and especially when it comes to pvp it may influence your decision to fight someone or not.
edit: this is regarding transmog i replied on the wrong post
