You're benefitting from the guild's storage (guild does from your alts as well). And on the opposite side, GW enemies benefit from all the weaker alts, because you might get caught on one and farmed for points or mats or whatever the war conditions are. Determining power lvl of a guild (for GW purposes) would be more difficult, because alts would not just muddy the waters, but could be used to explicitly fool the system into making the guild appear weaker. And if you try to address those points through limitations (and those are just the first few issues that came to mind) - the entire system becomes way more difficult to present to people, for no real reason. I'd much rather have super indepth friend lists that allow you to add character connections, have char filters, annotations, group chats, etc etc. Because that kind of system would help literally everyone in the game, while having slotless alts in guilds would only help the hardcore players optimize their gameplay even more, which will only make the experience of casuals even worse.

So it'd have to revokable by the guild and bound to the character so it can't be traded. This would actually likely take more time to implement than option 1.

That's what the second account is for I'm joking, or am I? The player can make that choice, regardless of the other thread topic. Join this alt to be a spy and play with enemies or the main guild to play with friends.

The game is am playing now, it is normal for players to have 2 or 3 accounts. By normal, I mean it is just kind of assumed that everyone has a second account This was also fairly normal in Archeage. I see no reason to assume it will be different in Ashes. In regards to alts not counting towards guild limits, I disagree, i think they need to count. In the same way we don't want anything tying an alt to their main for purposes of inter-guild espionage, we also want the ability for this to be a factor for intra-guild espionage. There should be no possible way to tie characters on an account to each other, other than user error.
