Want PvX gathering? This is how you do it.

So as you know we have Stone and int the stones is metal and gems? right?

Make it where anything from common to rare is pocketed into your inventory immediately just like how it works now. For example, (Mine granite > procs uncommon granite and uncommon copper).

However, if it is heroic or above, after you mine the node, the node for the supplement proc is spawned right in its place, for you to press F again to interact with it. For Example, (Mine Granite > Pocket Heroic Granite > Heroic Ruby Mining node spawns in front)

Now, when the second node spawns, you press F again to gather and while gathering you are flagged up while gathering it. You can make it where (Heroic = time it takes to gather heroic node is the time you are flagged / Epic= time it takes to gather epic node + 5 seconds and / Legendary = Time it takes to gather legendary node + 20 seconds.)

This>
A ) Gives them a chance to consent to the pvp flag by pressing F to mine
B ) alerts other people that might be watching that a high rarity proc has just occured
C ) Allows time to assess the area around or ask for assistance before mining. + Time duration before node despawns

Then, to add even more, whatever you gathered in a certain amount of time depending on the rarity, you drop all of recently looted items on death. So normal death loot drop applies for everything in materials bag + Whatever was recently added to materials bag upon death will drop 100% of it rather than 25%/25%. So attacking someone flagged who gathered a legendary resource say, is susceptible to losing all of what they risked to gather, rather than normal death drop percentages.

I was kinda on board with the suggestion until that last paragraph. Just sounds like you want a corruptionless robbery there.

I disagree with this post because it's proposing a way to make the proc system viable as a form of PvX content. I severely dislike the current iteration of mining but I think the proc system has it's place as a back up system for newbie and casual miners who haven't gone deep into exploring mining. You want the PvX form of interacting with mining in the deeper end not something that allows players to get mats needed in an easy way.

Don't want to highjack the post for my personal ideas on how to include PvX in a more healthy manner.

Just another way to incorporate the risk/reward aspect. You can easily only make this for legendary or ignore it completely. But the other 2/3rds of the post I am more on board with.

I was too at first, but it's actually not bad imo. My post is also a way to make it an extra level of mining that makes it close to how it was before. Plus, I think it is nice to have a system where you can get metal and gems off procs since almost every material is going to be used for something.
