Glorious Alpha Two Testers!

Alpha Two Phase III testing has begun! During this phase, our realms will be open every day, and we'll only have downtime for updates and maintenance. We'll keep everyone up-to-date about downtimes in Discord.

If you have Alpha Two, you can download the game launcher here, and we encourage you to join us on our Official Discord Server for the most up to date testing news.

No gamepad or controller support

I have recently found although the hard way, there is no option to use a controller/game pad . This rather unfortunate for I have Parkinson's( yes its sucks) and since I am gamer I find it very useful for to use a game pad like the XBox controller for those times when using one allow me to continue playing .

Thanks for sharing your perspective. At the moment Ashes of Creation does not have native controller support, the MMO has been designed primarily for mouse and keyboard. That said, Alpha testing is all about feedback like yours, and accessibility is something the team takes seriously. I trust Intrepid will continue to explore ways to make Verra more inclusive for different play styles and needs. I hope to meet you out in the world of Verra once this gets implemented.

I feel your pain. My wife has severe arthritis and mobility issues. Would like to program a gaming keyboard and mouse to help her play. I have asked for permission to do this and got no reply. Her coronation and the help this would give her in no way put her in a place she would be owning people unfairly. It would just make her br able to not fall behind. I would love to see IS address this for the disabled community. Even if they let us prove in some way this is a need. Adaptive controllers would help as well.

I am well aware the game is development, and certain that things like this will get worked and I am a patient individual. On the comment of consoles ,game pads will truly shine once the game is ported to consoles . Take a look at Elder Scrolls online for it reflects what I have in my prior sentence

I've used a controller from 0-21 and works great! The menu's are a little annoying in "Mouse Cursor Mode" but I've got used to it.

    You have to use Steam Big Picture to launch the Ashes launcher. The biggest tips I have for controller is;

    - Use "Action Camera Mode", and have a hot key bound on the controller to toggle it.
    - Use "Joystick Mouse" instead of "Joystick" in the Steam profile.
    - Use "Left Trigger" for both block and right mouse click.
    - Use "Right Trigger" for both auto attack and left mouse click.
    - Setup hold actions in the Steam profile. For example A/B/Y/X = 1/2/3/4, but while holding RB then A/B/Y/X = 5/6/7/8.
    - Use a controller with a Chat Pad attachment for UI interactions ("c" for Character screen, "k" for Skill book etc.).
    - If you don't have a Chat Pad, create Steam Radial Menu's / Nested Radial Menu's.
    - It helps if you have a Scuff style controller with extra buttons on the bottom. I like to remap the DPAD to the extra four paddles on the back of the Scuff controller, and use those for run/jump/sit/dodge.

I've only tested with melee classes but it feels really good. There does seem to be a bug with Ashes of Creation and XInput though. When using joystick in "Mouse Cursor Mode" (Ashes automatically switches to this mode when opening a UI element such as your inventory) the cursor is constantly flickering in and out, making it really tough to mouse over and compare item stats.

My setup is the Scuff Envision Pro + Xbox One Wireless Adapter for Windows + Any XBOX Chat Pad from Amazon (OEM no longer seem to exist).

I remember that in the Alpha 2 Phase 2.5, the Xbox controller worked well (at least for moving around and killing NPCs, and casting skills), but after Phase 3, the game does not react to a controller at all.

I wish the game had a click-and-go possibility to travel (like in Lineage 2), because using WASD is annoying for me, especially for long-distance travel. The controller has caused me some pain when I was using it for traveling.

It does work in Phase 3 if you load the game launcher through Steam Big Picture mode.
