First of all thank you for creating what could be one of the best MMO's I have played, without getting into my gaming resume, let's say I have seen a lot in my tenure as a professional gamer.
There are many of us that believe if you launch EAL and do not offer a variety of leveling paths, including one that could accommodate solo players. We may see a spike in peeked interest, in the beginning, but with out a MSQ(Main Story Quest-line) it's assured people will quit....again. Please consider a MSQ. We need to be immersed in "Vera-Lore". Alternate leveling paths would be a fantastic add. However if you force folks to endlessly grind mobs we will lose players and be back to needing more active community. Not having that? It will be one guild that rules all as it has historically been for the last year.
Please dont make us endlessly grind mobs that NEVER drop loot. We already tested that last phase. IT SUCKS!

I do agree the game isn't ready for EA on steam for similar reasons. But even with a MSQ that you could follow to max level the game would still be lacking quite a bit. A MSQ like this will only make people realize the incompleteness even quicker.
This game feels so far from a game that could have a good, sensible MSQ given what it is...
I would hate to see one. Even if only because of knowing that I would have to play through it, and that it would be almost entirely there to pump levels and diminish/hide the appeal of Ashes.
Now, if I thought that a game built out of 'Settlements' where individual players are not supposed to be 'the big hero', I'd be much less 'negative' toward this. I don't hate MSQ in general, I love a good 'connect me to the world and characters a bit' MSQ, and can tolerate even up to half my Exp coming from it alone (I don't like it, but I can tolerate it).
But in short, I don't think that. If Ashes gets an 'industry standard' style MSQ meant to appeal to the Single Player MMO enjoyer, especially as a fully viable alternate leveling path, everyone I know will be meaningfully disappointed.
This is not an argument that the game should not have something that feels like an MSQ for any given Settlement-progression.
Not going to say that will happen on game launch anymore but I would like to see each biome have their own special MSQ's.
