Feedback on things I think should be adjusted or aren't enjoyable. Some of these could be due to a lack of information or time, but this being my first impression of a game I was really excited for isn’t a good sign IMO.
Artisan skills have long timers. I haven't interacted with all the Artisan skills, but smelting bars, cutting gems, etc. is 30+ seconds for most items cumulatively. This on top of it breaking your bank to use the stations is very unpleasant. (might be fixed later if you join a settlement? idk) It took me almost 8 minutes sitting there to make just 15 bars. I could go do something else, but I have no clue what that is since I'm new and just trying to check this game and its systems out. Please reduce the timers to 5 seconds per item at most.
Map PoI's. I was in the starting area of Briarmoor Farms and when given the prompt to keep refined items in my inventory or put them in the warehouse I chose warehouse for 1 thing just to see what would happen. It led me on a chase to try and find this warehouse. I eventually found it, but there is no icon indicating where it is in Briarmoor Farms and I’m not sure why. Also, the Artisan stations revert to silver diamonds on the map rather than their normal icons when you leave the area? Seems like an oversight and there should be more done to clearly label map PoIs, crafting benches, etc. Not sure if it’s just the starter zone because the settlements do an okay job, but nothing is worse than a massive world being poorly labelled.
I think they could do better with explaining things. They do have a few small tutorials when you open certain interfaces which is nice. But even what a warehouse was, where it is, it’s purpose, where artisan skills are trained, what they make, etc are all kind of lost. I had nothing in the game to introduce me to any of that. Just stumbled about until I made a few mistakes and it started to make sense.
Losing items on death. I'm fine with this, but the number of items lost seems a bit much. I refined 15 bars and 12 gems (13+ mins), and I lost half of each stack and a bunch of other materials to a wolf that was twice my level. I know I should not have been there (now), but I was trying to see if I could find this warehouse I was sending some of my stuff to since there was no icon in Briarmoor. Maybe add a system where you do not lose items on death to non pvp combat until level 10 so people can have a chance to figure things out and explore a little?
Player Collision is not fun. Even more so when you're in bigger cities or crafting stations with people all around the place. It'd be one thing if you just bumped shoulders and kept moving, but it's more of an invisible forcefield that stops you in place.
Fighting over quest items is not fun outside of pvp zones that are clearly marked and used to encourage pvp. There was a quest where I had to gather a few pieces of paper along the road and I thought the quest markers were off or I was in the wrong zone because so many people were looting them that I just never saw them until I logged in the next morning. Please make them client side or instantly respawn or something.
Require force PVP to use harmful abilities on combatants should be on by default. 1 spell bounce or aoe spell flags you for pvp and you lose half your materials because someone decided to make this disabled by default?
I’d probably have more feedback to give, but I’m not sure that I’m interested in playing more if I’m not enjoying this many systems this early on. Good luck and best wishes
