Somewhat worried how spawn will work in nodes.

I watched the node system video and I found it very interesting concept how the game world will react to player involvement, then the climax with the raid boss dragon appeared, I thought to myself damn that's really sweet.

More and more I thought about it more and more I got worried how the node mob system will work, like when a node reach level 3 those mobs spawn in in same general area and players go farm them because the lvl 3 node mobs spawn in there, then at lvl 4 always at the same location in that specific node a dungeon opens up with the same dungeon mobs like last time that node was lvl 4, then people write in chat, Node are about to go max level, hurry to raid boss location before he spawn, so the dragon spawn in and 50+ players are all ready there waiting for the boss.

Well this is how I saw it unfold in my mind how the node mob spawn system works, any in depth info about the matter would be really nice.

  • I think we are going to get more info about nodes in the near future and I hope it won't be like you described it. I want more dynamic and random stuff. I think a lot of things will change during alpha and beta and I hope developers will listen to the community because this is going to make the game really interesting and fun.

You can read something about nodes <a href="https://docs.google.com/document/d/14luppZ3Ub8jmcw_aK65QWxYY4xa8qAo9zRfpYWBxOXE/edit#" target="_blank">here</a> if you did not already.
  • I was thinking that too, but hopefully if there are enough players/large guilds that not everyone will focus in one area. Say there are 50 nodes on the server and 20 large guilds. Unless those large guilds create and alliance then most likely they will be looking to level up their own area possibly giving multiple high level nodes to adventure to. This all depends on how they approach the system. Will there be benefits to delevel a node and level a new one or will it take too long? Are there going to be a lot of nodes to choose from and will we know the benefits of some of the nodes early on?
  • That's mostly because the example was still simplyfied, in an interview Steven touched on this a little.
First of all(this I just assume), we don't know the moment a node hits the next level. I don't think it's so cut and dry like a character progression and more a flowing into each other.
It's not like it will suddenly spawn, there are eventchains tied into it that come first to prepare for it.

The interview I hinted at, worth a quick read for this subject:

It's more or less the whole point that, one node spawns those specific mobs, and a different node spawns other nodes in the same dungeon. That's what will be a reason for conflict to develop/destroy a node, to be able to access the mobs you want for crafting materials, loot, story and so on.
