I have watched several videos of Ashes and I am concerned about every fighter looks exactly the same. It really is disappointing when all character types are wearing the exact same outfit.
Will there be other ways to aquire more varied looks in a given class/race?
Will we have appearance gear? gear that can be worn while still keeping the stats of regular armor along the lines of EQ2?
Will gear drop as loot even at low levels or is everything crafted or only bought from the cash shop?
Will we be able to dye gear along the lines of GW2? or will dyes even be in the game?
Will crafting or other professions have professional outfits?
I believe being able to have variety in clothing is great for moral.

Armor looks/sets ect is usually not something they focus a lot in a pre-alpha stage.
But i'm sure they will implement a dye system aswell as some good looking armor sets or costumes in the future.
Knowing that everything is Pre Alpha, I just want to know what they are aiming to do design wise, and some features I would like to be incorporated especially appearance gear, and most importantly having variety available early in the game. I hate cookie cutter appearances.

In my opinion it will probably end up similar to ESO's art style when it comes to armor. More realistic cosmetics where you start with a very basic look and once you get to "end-game" we will probably see a lot of decent but still realistic looking sets, however i'm sure we wont see fancy stuff like WoW has with huge shoulders and insane special effects all over the place.
I'm fine with a realistic armor look as long as they dont look boring and poorly made.
But i would love to see armor sets that stand out - especially end-game armor where you can clearly tell by the look of his/her armor that it's actually a very good set. I hate MOO's where the best armor looks exactly like the first max-lvl green rarity armor that you've got after finishing a normal quest.
A mix of GW2 and ESO would be the perfect cosmetic style in my opinion.
Something that I have always wanted to see is different styles of armor for the same tier, so that not everyone is running around in the exact same setup as you are. You know like, looting a helmet, and once putting it on your character, being able to choose between a few different styles with only slight differences. Nothing major. I don't know anything about making games though, so who knows if that's a practical idea. Probably just more work than it is worth.

In Discord today it was stated that dyes will be behind achievements and crafting, as well as the cash shop.
Personally, I like to have dyes be loot drops, also.
I always found it odd when games have dye systems where you either have to pay $ to get the colors you want, or have an rng box (*cough* bdo *cough* ) or have the basic colors restricted in some fashion. Like, not being able to have black, or white, or the blue that is just right.
Player made dyes would be sweet. Maybe go collect some weeds and berries, or use coal and soot from a fire to make certain hues.
But definitely make them available without $ or some crazy thing like in other silly games trying to milk the credit card.
