Referral Program Question/Concern

So I really like this program and think it is an awesome idea. My worry though is what happens if someones uses my link and then searches around the website to see what the game is about before clicking to sign up. Would that still give me credit for the referral? If not, it might be better to ask a question during sign up to see if they are being referred by someone and maybe ask by who. Cause I don't think that very many people will just click a referral link and just hit signup without knowing what they are getting into.

If it is pre-entered by clicking on a referal link, fine, but I cannot be bothered to type in someones referal name/ID.
Considering current web standards, it should be possible to code a system that will track a referrals browsing session. If a persons clicks on your link, browses the website and registers, it will count as a referal.
However, if a person clicks on your link, browses the website, CLOSES IT, then comes back later to register, it will not count towards your referal.
