What crafting class would you like to see/play as?

As the title suggests, what sort of crafting profession would people like to play as. Doesn't have to be confirmed as a class as of yet.

For me I'd like to play a scribe enchanter sort of crafter so I can boost gear or create and write recipes. Some sort of aspect of that would be cool.

If anyone else has ideas to bring to the table, then as nothing is yet confirmed on profession classes, then feel free to say what you would like to see in this game.

  • I typically like carpentry and woodworking. But I always have a stable of alts so every profession can be attempted. I like cooking, leather working, tailoring, blacksmithing, farming, you name it, I like it in regards to crafting and harvesting.

I think it would be cool to go back in time so that you make basic ingredients from harvests and combine those basics into higher tier items/recipes. I think your idea of writing recipes would be fantastic. I wish that there was an MMORPG that had a main focus on crafting.

The crafting in Horizons was great as was the crafting in EQ2 at launch (no afk crafting as the machines could kill you), loved those days.

  • I like to specialize in whatever can be crafted for medium or light gear in some MMO's as you can make a lot of money crafting those items for players gear if the MMO allows craftable sets. Especially early on in the MMO if you get ahead on the skill line.
  • I am a fan of alchemy. Played a few games were alchemy could make items that could be applied to weaponry or used in the making of traps. When I played pre-trammel Ultima Online; you could make different tiers or explosion potions. Line up or make a 9x9 square of greater explosion potions, sit back and wait for an ophidian queen to wander in, chuck another explosion potion or fire a magic arrow at one of the bottles and BOOM. Hopefully the mob would get in range before the decay timer went off but still fun. Also the poisoning of weapons and the unfortunate player who didn't have high enough healing to counter said poison. Good times.
  • Bricklayer. I wanna lay bricks.

    ;P

Seriously though, there's a lot of carpentry specializations that could be interesting: siege machine crafting, instrument crafting, and shipbuilding, for instance. (Assuming that ships or instruments could be features in the game)
  • Sorry for a stupid question, but I don't understand. If I am a rogue, can I craft? Or not?
  • I'd some some sort of weapon and gear enhancer. Someone that other players can bring their gear to and this player for a fee will inscribe magical runes or embune the equipment with enhancement giving rune stones. How this would actually work in game with regards to the honesty of the player to return the gear I don't know. Perhaps have some sort to temporary vault system, that stores the item, so it doesn't actually get transferred to the player doing the enhancing?
  • locksmith by day, thief by night.
  • I generally like to play as an alchemist, but this time I think I'll decide for a blacksmith focused on weapons.
  • Jeweler- Rings, earrings, Necklaces.

In the mmo's I have played that have this crafting class i've been able to make high end items and make a good buck doing it too.
  • As far as crafting, I'd like to be a well-known chef, or a brewmaster whose ales are known throughout the land! :)

But I'd also like to dig deep into a few "gathering" professions, specifically farming and fishing.
  • Chef for me. I would also like to cultivate seeds like a farmer making hybrid plants or finding the best genetic strain for the ultimate corn :D
  • I'd love to be an infamous enchanter / alchemist that is excellent at inscribing enchantments onto weapons, armor, etc. That's always something I love to see in games, and if I can get famous in this game for it, that would be awesome
  • Going blacksmith/miner .

Mostly because as i have learned in the "Game that shall not be named" people are greedy bastages and if the best way to afford my armor is to build it myself.

Yes you get an fighting class/s and a crafting class/s on the same toon. They get diferent experince too. so you cant cut wood for 2 days to get to max level fighter ArcheAge style.

Weaponsmith for the win. Being able to cap weapons in swg took me 3 years but that is just how much I love crafting.
  • Enchanter so I can improve gear. That's always needed so I'll have a good supply of income.
  • Animal husbandry... love taming, training and breeding! But if the mechanics are shallow, I'll take up alchemy.
