Two fold thead. 1. will console be getting it? 2. the core of this game.

1. I have a good PC but PC lacks a proper graphics card. so it suffers for it. but i do own a PS4 and the games i have played on it can be intensive at times (FFXIV for example) and it just shrugs it off like a stiff breeze . I can only assume Xbox does the same i never owned the Xbox 1. I did have a 360 though.

2. OMFG i cant belive this group has salvaged a lost title's core functionality. Everquest Next was a game that was scrapped and had plans to use the node system to do EXACTLY what your game does. It was one of the biggest reasons i wanted to play EQN (everquest Next) Seeing it actually a viable system with your game makes me want to play this game. I really want to see if you plan to come to console and if you will do something similar to FFXIV where all versions of the game can play on the same servers.

  • 1. speaking out of personal experience ue4 makes porting things easier than other engine do but I only speak from using the normal ue4 engine and not the modified one the devs will use. They said that they focused on the networking and level loading parts of the engine so I guess it has not too much effects on porting to a console. One of the main aspects here would be how do you convert the control from keyboard+mouse into controller based systems. There are a few examples but I guess it boils down to the UI experts.

My only concern about porting to consoles is the workload in general. We are seeing many mmorpgs poping out of their pre-alpha phases this year or are already in a decent alpha/beta stage. I am certain that a console port in the first months is out of question. Depending on how the game is doing and progressing a port after the first year or so might be a thing but again... seeing how BDO did it - I guess it will take time to actually see how things are going. If it is a hit - why not port it. If it remains a niche game (which I don't really think) I guess we won't see a port soon or at all.

    2. well since many members of the team consists of people who were working on EQN it is no surprise we see a similar design approach.
2b.) I'd rather not mix console and pc players into one server. Depending on the differences between controls there can be worlds between console and pc players. Doesn't have to be but usually is.

With 2b.) there also comes another thing to mention. With a console port you need additional servers (if you split the community).

Well that's my concerns at least.
  • Honestly if they did do a console port it would be months to years after the pc release. but i dont think they will as it is very rare for a company to do so and there hasnt been any kickstarter mmos that have ported. this is is only opinion, who knows they may pull 1 out. never know til they do.
  • There is no point in consoles getting this game. It will require designing the game in a way that people with controllers can play and that is very hard to do. Their time is better spent on content rather than console players. If you want to play buy a PC you get 2 to 3 times the power out of a PC for a little more than a console cost.
  • ports generally arent good. buy a new graphics card , you will get way more enjoyment out of it ;)
  • If you are dead-set on the controller, you could probably figure out a way to plug it into your computer. You'll still want a better GPU though.
  • Controller pads (and the like) are great for MMO's I find.
    Razer Orbweaver, yo.
