Holiday Event Suggestions!

Holiday Events are such an exciting and unique aspect of MMOs. It's a great way for the community to come together and enjoy something a bit different from their usual daily gameplay during the holiday seasons.

I'm sure Intrepid has some insane holiday events up their sleeves, but it can't hurt to give them some suggestions! What are some of the events you'd love to see in the game?


Halloween:
A Trick or Treat themed Caravan, (disguised as a giant pumpkin carriage of course!) going on trade routes at scheduled or random times. There will be no reward for protecting the caravan, but attacking it instead. Once defeated it would either explode and spawn terrifying halloween themed monsters or it would explode into a pile of dat sweet exclusive Halloween event loot for a set amount of players. There would of course still be the static PvP zone, making way for intense battles over who receives the tricks or the treats.

Christmas:
A large scale sled race reminiscent of Mario Kart.
A PvP arena fought exclusively with snowballs!

I think the Halloween idea with the caravan is splendid!

I definitely think that we could do a lot with them. I still think some ghost caravans or ghost cities based off of the ones that die during the year would be nice. Have skeleton guards taking the caravans into towns. either disappearing before they get there, and maybe having some npcs talking about scary things that go bump in the night, or into ghost cities. Could have them based off the successful sieges from the year, and would give another fun reason to actually try to take them down. Might even be able to make a raid or two out of the ghost cities, and get a fancy exclusive customization at the castle after taking out the skeleton king.

Could also have some easter events with finding eggs, along with the flanggler getting eggs instead of flowers to trick players.

I like holiday events in a game, i just wished they didn't use real life holidays. Most of the time they are so out of character with the game lore...

For me its just silly to have a Christmas or Easter holiday in a game where there is no Christian religion or culture. We all find it normal to have those in a game, but what would people say if we suddenly had a Ramadan or a Chanukah festival in-game?

So yes, holiday events are awesome, but lets get creative and invent new holidays based on the lore of the game :)

Love holiday based events, and if you want to include those of other cultures, bring it on!

I will say EQ2 does these events better than any other MMO out there. They have a different LORE name to events, but they fit.

[/quote] Totally agree,I'm good with events/holidays based on lore but why not also make holidays based on some major things that happened in the game due to players interactions from both PvE or PvP?

It would be cool to see this game with its very own unique holidays! Like no Halloween or Christmas instead something that has to do with Game Lore. It could happen to fall on the same days of those holidays though LOL.

This exactly! Please, no "Father Santa" or some stupid elfs running around like they do in World of Warcraft. Even though I love holidays, I play mmo-s to get away from ordinary life. Not to remind myself that I forgot to buy presents this year aswell.

By all means, we can do lore friendly holidays. I just overall like the idea of events, and having them spaced out to the point of holidays works well. If nothing else we could always go the route of setting something up saying that "every 10 years the worlds light darkens, and the dead will walk the land" and base it off how many years would go by from the season changes. Just gotta find things that will engage players and make them look forward to that event again...so maybe only do some events once or twice a year etc.
