Node Government

Yo,

I'm kinda new to this game but i'm already really HYPED!
I just read the blog about "A REACTIVE WORLD – NODES" and I have a few questions.
Every node at village stage or above will be governed by players.
- What influence will we as players have over a node. Will it be a big influence or just small minor decisions?
- Will influence grow as the node grows?
- Can we change how a node will end up?
- What do you need to do to be in a government? (be a guild leader/own a house in that node/get elected etc?)

Please don't mind my bad English as it is not my native tongue.
Thanks in advance :)

    Hello Image!
Here is an answer to your last question first:

We don't exactly know how big of an influence players will have over governing nodes but I would guess that it will be very high kinda of an influence since the node system itself will be based on player actions and decisions. Obviously, players influence, at least mayor's, will grow as the node grows. I don't think it will be the same to govern a town and a metropolis.

I don't exactly know how else you can change how nodes will end up but "players" will change the future of the node by sieging it and tearing it down, i guess :)

With there being 4 election types, maybe certain nodes will have a certain election, pertaining where it may be located? Curious to see how they implement the 4 election types.

I could see the type changing based on the main type of people / activities going on in the area. After all a town centered around mining and craft wont care if you can slay a bear with your hands. They would care if you can manage the economics and trade ect.

I'm sorry that I don't have a source for this, but I'm almost certain I saw it in a reputable place. If not, the assumption is pretty well rooted anyways.

I believe the mayor election type will be according to the node's type. We already know that nodes will come in one of four types: Economic, Military, Divine, and Scientific. We can pair those up with the electoral system really easily

    Economic - Participating in economy/investments/stocks
    Military - Gladiatorial combat
Divine - Service to the temple
    Scientific - Vote by citizens

I've also seen... somewhere that in order to participate in government, you'll need to at least be a citizen and potentially be a landowner. However there seem to be many ways to participate in town development, including roles for guilds, mayors, and roles for private citizens.

I may be mistaken but somewhere I heard that type and amount of caravan guards depends on zone lvl, castle owner (maybe there is something to setup like extra security payed by castle owner) and I assume (going by the same logic) it should depend on governor of city …

I also don’t have source but I believe I read somewhere that governor will be able to set up TAX … but what will he be able to do with hat money, that I don’t know … maybe just setup how to split it … something like 30% Guards / 30% something / and so on …

In the second node video, Steven talks about node leaders deciding tax rates and what to build. I doubt it will have the complexity of a city sim, but it sounds like the goal is to have players be able to materially affect life in the node.
