The same price has been set for Dawnbreaker and Pridestalker, they both use the same skeleton.

What does epic mean? Is this a mount or mount skin?
If it's a mount, it would make sense, since the colors look natural. If not, there should NOT be a recolored version of them whatsoever, and preferably, no skeleton reuse either, unless for mobs and NPCs!!

See? If it is a mount skin, it means everyone can have it for FREE. But this IS a mount, right?!
But to avoid P2W, it will be tamed/obtained through a quest?

During Kickstarter, there was a confusion in regards to 'mounts' and 'mount skins' being the same thing.
The last time Steven mentioned non-dragon Epic mounts was in 2017. I think we deserve an update/refresh Intrepid's memories.

The question for you little humans is: Do you agree that an $50 epic mount's skeleton should be reused for another mount?

Dragons:

They might not be the same, but still very similar. I believe the regular free version will not be "that" different for the Ochre Legion Wyrmling considering how plain it looks.

"Recolored skins should be cheaper"
Initially, in this post I wanted to talk about the Gryphons in APOC.
A merely recolored version from the original, costs $20!
This also applies to exclusive mounts and pets. We have seen a regular crow with 6 tiny eyes costing $15. I understand it's exclusive and I'm fine with it. But we have seen the same thing happen with non-exclusives(gryphon and dragon).

Feel free to talk about that as well.

unimportant note: I think the crow should have a dark aura surrounding it to look cool.

Like everything else in the shop it is a cosmetic. From the kickstarter faq "- The Dawnbreaker is also a mount skin and will be used in a similar fashion as above, but is only applicable to a certain class of mounts." Also in case you aren't aware the pridestalker is the dawnbreakers equivalent from the summer crowdfund campaign.

Yeah, but here is the question:
Do. They. Force. You. To. Buy. Them?
    No, no they do not.
Are they allowing people to give them more money for skins?
    Yes, yes they do.
    Is that bad?
    No, no it is not.

They do not sell mounts. They only sell cosmetic skins for your mounts. Everything else would be pay to win!

I saw that. But then this leads to my first question: What makes them epic?
They can fly ? This means the free dragon skin they gave away was worth $50 as well.

Not sure they've stated. Epic might just be the class of mounts. Like land, aquatic, gliding, and royal.
  • Usually Epic means that once the time period for that particular skin has expired you will not be able to get the skin again - as we have seen you can get a different skin for the same frame, but each skin type will not be available for purchase in-game once the game is released. So for the Dawnbreaker and Pridestalker skins shown above, people who purchase them now will be able to use those skins in game, but they will not find that exact same skin for sale in-game.

So epic might mean that individual mount or skin can be visually changed. In a discord post steven confirmed the dawnbreaker's color, based on mood in lore, can be changed ingame. Either that or selective availability, as I don't believe intrepid has said we'd see ingame variants available for everything from the shop.

This is probably a good question to post when the q&a thread for the next livestream goes up, if not trying beforehand.
  • 50$ for a mount skin. Vow! I mean Vow! :o

I forgot about that, that's cool.
This is different from what they said in the livestream. What does animal husbandry for these two mounts do, then?
Is this what they meant by "mood"? I don't think so.
I'm guessing these two epic skins will have the ability to change by mood after the different colors are unlocked via animal husbandry for the original mount(which should have a different head and tail as well).

Will these even be available for taming? I know some shop creatures will also be found in the wild, but I don't believe they've confirmed that everything will be. They are just skins so you'd probably be able to change them in the mount menu or something. Animal husbandry would probably allow you to breed for features different than colors, like different bird or feline heads for the dawnbreaker and pridestalker respectively.

Both infos combined mean= these two epic skins will have the ability to change by mood after the different colors are unlocked via animal husbandry for the original mount(which should have a different head and tail as well).

Animal husbandry has no influence on skins that you attach to the mounts.
    Imagine it like that:
You have a horse mount already, because everyone gets the standart horse at an early lvl, you can then put your cosmetic skin on that horse to let it look cooler. The skin has no influence on the speed or stats of the original horse.
Animal husbandry makes better mounts, while also eventually giving a mount a new look, while skins only put a new look on that mount.

They have have 20 mounts all same skeleton and just change the color.
    I couldn't care less.
As long as they don't mix cosmetics with Lootboxes, it's all good.
I I want to spend 50 USD on a mount that I will get for sure, It's my choice.

IS should avoid ANY type of % with real money.
  • It is hilarious how much there is stuff on sale without having even Alpha 1 phase started. :D

It’s income so I say good for them.

Checking my order history, I’ve spent $75 total on a handful of little things myself.

  • As long as the company's focus is on Apoc and selling cosmetics I am not going to support that kind of activity. Yeah purely from business point of view it is smart to focus to cash people and collect money for the company. However, at the same time these kind of actions have a negative influence at least to portion of the community.

I do not say people should stop buying those cosmetics, but imo those are too expensive. Especially at this point when the future of the MMORPG is not clear anymore, I have really questioned the real intent of the cash shop. I could support financially if I would be sure that my money goes for development of MMORPG, but unfortunately I am not sure at all. And those who are supporting, I really hope you will get something in return in the future.

The most I paid was $25 for something (aside from KS itself of course). I think it was for a cool ship skin. Some of the cosmetics are crazy expensive but not all.

  • Ultimately it's your choice to spend loads of money. They have it like that because some people don't care and empty their wallets monthly for new cosmetics and such. I don't see the problem with that, more money to make a better game. As long as there's no P2W advantages ever it'll be fine. If that ever happens though..

Okay, 25$ sounds more ressonable already.

Generally speaking there is nothing wrong with cash shops as long those offers only cosmetics and no P2W stuff. It is also easy to argue that most people are fine with that.

What is bothering me is, that we have waiting and waiting to see actual content of the game, but mostly we just get is a new skins. We are not here for the cosmetics, we are here for the game itself. Those cosmetics should be a nice bonus products, which are developed at side of the main project. Now the core feels to be in cosmetics and in the other game, and that is what feels really bad.
