Size Matters

Question. How will Intrepid keep account of guild member size? On Discord, it appears BOTs will count as members, according to moderator feedback about a month ago. This leads me to believe that sizes of guilds will be based on Discord membership? Please confirm. IF not, what is the mechanism by which Intrepid counts membership. Guild Leaders might want to know this when 'rightsizing' their guilds into intended small, medium, or large (max capacity) classification. Thanks.

This is kind of confusing, what exactly are you asking? Discord guild roles are only for people to identify other players who are in the same guild when the game launches and has nothing to do with the actual in-game system of guilds.

The whole point of having the guild recruitment channels and whatnot is just for groups of players to coordinate what server they're going to play on and have a party to play the game with.

How about Guild Rosters in game? I've always noticed Guild Rosters state the number of players in a Guild. There will be meta around Guild Buffs and how many Guilds one could potentially make. We then get into Mega Guild terms though.

I doubt discord will have anything to do with it. That would be easily faked, abused or hidden...

Some guilds don't even use discord, for example. There are other ways to communicate.

I imagine there will just be limits on guildsize in game.

My understanding is that guild size will be based on the number of characters in the guild, which has nothing to do with Discord. For more information, see https://ashesofcreation.wiki/Guilds

  • Discord is completely separate from in-game guild and the mechanics around that system.

Guilds in-game will be able to level up by doing quests and activities, which rewards them with guild points. They can spend that on different passives like increasing guild size or giving their members some sort of passive ability (10% bonus damage against Tulnar for example). Guilds will have a maximum achievable level and will also have a cap of 300 members (given all you invest in with guild points is guild size).

In addition to that, Guilds can join alliances of up to 3 guilds.

Interesting convolution. I heard from a moderator that numbers on Discord including BOTs were counted in numbers. Now you are going to make me go to the moderator source? Again - Intrepid says what? Numbers of members of a guild are derived from what? No official source or answer. All hypothetical. Request an official answer.
Lmao how would you enforce it. Just have your guild go to their own unrelated discord/vent server and there is 0 ways to relate that to the game. It must be based on Something they can track like in game guild members like every single game ever

The whole guild thing is inside the game.
You can have thousands of members on your discord server, but in-game you're limited to a certain number, unless you take the route to unlock more space.
You can have sister guilds I imagine, if you have over the limit people.

But yeah. Discord in on itself has nothing to do with the AoC guilds.
Just as team-speak has nothing to do with the guilds, just as Skype has nothing to do with guilds.
Let's see what Intrepid thinks. Not hypotheticals.

You seem to be seriously confused.

A guild will only have so many spots open for members inside of the game. I dont really care for guild size outside :/

Not to mention no way to monitor or enforce outside the game either. Go ahead try to figure out how many people are in my private hosted voice chat server running on a private vm
  • They are not going to use game-to-discord integration man. You can have as many members of a guild in discord and that does not and should not affect the game.
