Kill back to level 1

Since players will “gain” negative experience, does that mean players can kill other players back to level one and keep them at level one until they remove their subscription to the game? Or if there is no level drop due to the negative experience, can players make others “gain” enough negative experience so they can never level up again? That is if negative experience stacks beyond zero.

Stat dampening would take effect too. It would be difficult to stack unlimited amounts of negative experience and negative 'karma' because Corruption reduces your combat efficiency overall until cleared.

Edit: PvP Combat Efficiency, not PvE Combat Efficiency.

The freezing at 4% doesn’t really change the situation, it just adds Flowers to a dead man’s grave. As neurath said, it will be difficult to gain unlimited negative experience but never said it’s impossible. Can someone be more blunt? Where does the negative experience stop? Is it just a one time thing? Or continuously stack?

We can't be more specific because the system is being tested. We do not know what the final amounts will look like or the current thresholds. The current testers are under NDA and we can only give ambiguous answers for now.

What we can say without exception is that you wont lose levels - you will never be back to level 1.

You will lose combat efficacy, but not to the degree of returning to a level 1 player.

We do not know if there is a limit on how low this can go, but since the only way to get that low is by doing it on purpose, such discussions are academic.

What makes you think that other players will want to waste their time to kill you again and again, risking in the process to lose their hard earned gear?

It will be impossible for some1 to be that bad at gaming, where they will get a lot of xp debt.

You do have a point, but it’s always best not to underestimate stupidity. After all, not everybody functions with their brain... that or I’ve been reading too many Chinese mmorpg mangas.

There is no maximum threshhold.
If someone is really that bad at gaming, then its well deserved that they stay level 1 until they start improving.

Let's be real though, its just not realistic, its an outlier scenario no Dev should every waste a second thought about.

no matter how good a player is or not, when being killed by someone with several (+10) levels above, that difference in most games is almost directly assured death no matter how good it is

on the other hand it is good that a player can stagnate in a level and can cost him a lot to climb until he adapts and improves as a player and understands better his class , skills, synergies or even improve a little his equipment

this can only be measured in how true and hard will be those penalties for killing so many low level players, because as I report, if you kill lower level players you acquire corruption more quickly

this being said it is unlikely that many players will play in this way, as most will not see a valid enough compensation for the risk-reward to be worth it

but if he did it out of malice, or simply for the pleasure of "annoying" other players (which is in his right and is something that is totally valid there are players who like to be the "bad" and be pkillers) and the negative consequences are hard enough for them to make a lot of people think twice about it and those who want to play that way know the consequences and maybe it’s another motivation for them, look like an evil killer who should be caught in a rolplay is pretty juicy

then it’s prospect that one or several players will pitch in the low-level areas is rather unlikely as they won’t win practically anything and will have a lot to lose. in addition at first you can climb in several ways is not so strict to be in X zone , which at any time you can leave the place of that killer and not feel that you are not being able to level up as you can go somewhere else

It doesn't work like this. The only way for your corruption to increase is to kill green players (non-combatants). Any player killing you would not increase your corruption.

Everquest xp debt pretty much? 50% of xp gained goes to the debt, which at max makes it take a long time to get out of, but you can grind grind grind to get back to normal xp. If you're 5mil xp in debt and you're only gaining 10's of thousands of xps and half of that goes to debt your next level up will be painstakingly long and annoying. Simple as that. No de-leveling, that would ruin the game imo. Also you don't want your players to never be able to level up because of infinite debt, that's how you lose subscribers. It will most likely have a cap and be similiar to EQ, which I think they did it best... if you've had max xp debt at high level you know what I mean lol. Each time you die you will go further into debt until you hit the max, grind it away and start all over again after.
