Types of armor we want to see

I am currently really liking the aesthetics of most if not all of what has been shown thus far.

I greatly appreciate the more grounded and realistic look of the sets that have been presented. Therefore I think it would be interesting if this game added two of the most used types of armor in all of medieval history, and that sorely lacks representation in gaming:

- The Gambeson

- The Brigandine

As for the rest, I am fine with some leather and cloth, but let's remember that leather is more of D&D and Pathfinder misconception of what light armor was actually used.

On the other hand, some more exaggerated armor sets à la WoW, Final Fantasy XIV etc, would be cool as a reward for high end raids. Marking a clear difference as that one player cuts an imposing figure strolling through a town of people wearing a a dented breastplate.

Asymmetry is the name of the game for me. It allows you to stand out in the crowd of perfectly symmetrical knights and give you your own identity. That said I am not saying I am completely against stock symmetrical armours and can look good.

I always have been a fan of GW2 artwork when it comes to armour however I always felt like the game itself did not reach the bar their concept art set for them.

That's what I want to see, big beefy, plated armour goliaths that when fully geared will look cool as beans.

Stealthy boi armour is important also. While not so elastic with colour choices It is possible to make that type of armour unique and cool depending on what our shadowy resident would like to focus on, light armour for faster/quieter movement or more reinforced leather (or hell maybe some actual steel plates) for combat.

Would be nice to have some blindfolded headger or something that covers the eyes.

And maybe some high lvl gear that have a very VERY faint glow in the dark.

Capes/cloaks that are big/heavy that covers some of the neck chest like in the picture :P.

Silcky/glitter cloth armor.

You are not raising anything. You are changing anime aesthetic fantasy for dirty aesthetics fantasy. It's the same, just more dirty and patches of plate armor distributed in random places.

Anime knows what is doing and is going for aesthetics, I personally appreciate that. They didn't try to fool anyone with being realistic.

While irl they can look too extra

If a bit stylized, the curvature of the fauld and the hourglass shape of breasplate makes a nice siluette to look at

I mean, in the Fate night one (is it Saber? I forget) she's just wearing a dress with gauntlets, some sheets to cover what I'm guessing is the side of her legs and not much else.

Giving your woman a full plate of armor is by definition "raising" the ante.

Do not take this as me disliking anime, I'm a big anime (though more manga) fan. I just think a maiden clad in plate is much more epic and badass than one wearing a frilly dress. Then again in Fate you could be naked and obliterate a whole city

Saber is the one I linked. The dress version is her using low amounts of power. The one I linked is based on real English Armor during their make believe time period. Since she's based on a fictional character who was based on a potentially real person.

At full power she wears full plate mail with her king cape, crown, and sword.

The real Arthur was a roman from 450-550 called Ambrossious possibly.

-Then in year 800 someone in Britania picked the tale. It was Charlemagne time.

He took Palatini. The concept of Paladin was born.

Monk was french, Lancelot was from french origin and a self-insert. Lancelot was op (french) and stole Arthurs (now an english dude) his gf.

Grial concept was invented as something christian.
The pure, pious, white knight love concept and all the romantic crap is introduced at that time.

The kingdom that broke was the Roman Empire.
Avalon is at the south east of England. I think.

People from 2021 imagine full plate from the 1500. Not even by the time Lancelot was introduced they would be wearing full plate.

Ambrosius probably wield some one-handed gladious or some hand and a half proto-spata.
Two handed swords weren't a thing until 1xxx, and they werent even popular until 1300.

The story have quite the history. And every century someone picked it, they changed aesthetic to match time or add some concepts to add.

I love Arturia and other fantasy approaches of the story nonetheless.
