NDA Verbal dropped and the testimony of the testers.

Hey everyone!

Has most of us that didn't get in the test, I'm currently listening to the testimony of those who have.
And while I have no concerned about the stat of the game , I'm a bit concern about the testers...

A good portion of those I have listened to so far , do not know what content was available to them in the Pre Alpha, or even do not know much about the game itself.

And while content testing wasn't the focus of the last test week end , some thought that they did't tested the same version of the game as the one we have seen so far in the dev update , while others said that they tested the same or even a better version that what has been shown.

So from what I heard , those who knew what they were testing , saw bugs and lack of server performance while it did't work as planed. And those who had no idea what there is in their test version, accused the stat of the development ...

Why did't they get a briefing to make sure that they all know what they where testing ?
I'm a bit sad to see out there on the internet nonconstructive criticism while it seems that IS did a fairly good job by now ...

Second thought on tester not knowing much about the game and the test content.
I watch a guy that didn't know much about the game but was fair about what he dislike and always said that he didn't if he explained was intended. And it was interesting too hear the opinion of a fresh new guy it this game development.
What I dislike is when there are guys that put out video where they accuse IS team , while they didn't took the time to understand why they had a bad experience ( no skill animation , not mobs animation ), while by listening to others tester you'll understand that they should have experience something close to the dev update videos...

I'm still worried about intrepid using Unreal engine. Pretty infamous engine to use especially on mmos. I do hope however that Intrepid figures shit out

I completely agree. I've heard nothing but bad things about the unreal engine (of which I know nothing about and am too lazy to google it). In game it felt "right" aside from some obvious poor decisions to make players locked in place while moving forward on every single Q spam that you are expected to spam for max damage.

Combat has good bones. World is beautiful. Server side improved every test and was very reliable for me after the first day of rubberbanding. Client side was excellent for me and I think I only dropped below 60fps once, briefly, when returning to a node with by a lot of players in it from the wilderness, most of the time I was 90 plus on ultra.

IMO, this A1 was like walking through a new construction home that just had the framing done, and being very excited about the home I was going to live in. The foundation and framework are very solid.

Seeing Trax put his specs down made me think I should put my specs and impression of how the game runs currently down.

Specs:
Ryzen 5 2600x
RTX 2070
64GB DD4

I got the occasional lag when moving my camera view quickly, but it did not feel like a frame rate drop. It felt more like my camera position rubber-banded. To be clear, when the servers went down, there was always a minute or two before the game went down, and I could move my camera like crazy with no lag.

Otherwise, the game ran fine. To be honest, it is quite refreshing to see a game run well this early in development. The only reason I have 64GB ram is because Dual Universe Alpha was so unoptimized that I felt the need to go all the way up to 64GB ram. That game can idle at like 42GB ram used if you let it.
