the skin of Santa Claus, duck, princess, or other nonsense have nothing to do in this game
it totally destroys the adult atmosphere of the creation's ashes
it destroys the game's rp
we don't want a game for 10 year olds
we want the developers to respect the lore of ashes of creation.
steven may think it's cool, but it's just ridiculous

It's reminiscent of Santa but it's not actually Santa. I went to the shop with the worry that they'd have some stupid skin like an Asian MMO that let you cosplay as Santa or a reindeer or something and that's all it was. Good grief, if you object to that then I don't know what to tell you. You're probably not going to be happy if any player puts together an outfit that reminds you of something else. Maybe stick to single-player games where you don't have to deal with people who might do something you don't like.

This game has been pretty good about staying away from ridiculous cosmetics, for which I'm very grateful. The latest batch is no exception.

You do realize they've been offering cosmetics technically for more than 4 years now? And the only truly awful cosmetic they released was 3 1/2 years ago. That's not a slippery slope, that's a consistent flat plane.

Again, you have no idea what you're talking about. "Starting to look like a dress up game." You've been around for more than a year but you're acting like someone who stumbled in here, lost and confused, and you don't understand what is going on at all. You shouldn't have that excuse.

While the game has been in development for years, and the ability to actually play the game has been extremely limited, we've had the opportunity to preorder cosmetics. Because it's a completely harmless, absolutely not pay-to-win way for the company to generate some revenue while we wait for release. So for most of us, outside of very limited playtesting the only thing that we can do is talk about the game (which again we aren't even playing yet) and buy cosmetics.

So to the ignorant it might look like a "dress up game" because that's all you can do right now. But I've seen in your few posts on this forum that you're mostly a one-issue activist; you decided you hate cosmetics so you waste all your time here trolling the forum to gripe about your one and only issue. You clearly are never going to actually play the game; the only game you play is trying to rile people up on the boards.

If money solves problems, then it sounds like money is a main reason why those problems exist in the first place. Obviously not an absolution to every problem but relatable to many.

Leaving the drivers seat with cruise control on to go cook food in the back of camper because the manual was not specific enough
cereal hurt your mouth
melted cheese was too hot on a burger

the list can go on... I'm pretty sure someone sued because there wasn't enough of the one type of marshmallow in their lucky charms.

lol. They're just validating/finalising the results of the case plead by lawyers and jury results. So much to consider when it comes to laws and common sense. Unfortunately common sense is not valid in court. Some people are just.. built different... lol

Just reading a quick description on all those items shows how they fit with lore. Even stuffertons is animated with magic which in Verra is "quite common".

Not liking these cosmetics doesn't mean they detract from the world, just that you and Steven have a different vision for how/what you want the world to be.

It's true that it's not exactly difficult to make up a random backstory on the spot for items like that but it doesn't mean it's lazy or unimaginative. If there is any sort of animation magic in the game then it would make less sense for animated toys/stuffed animals to not exist, they really would make awesome gifts for children.
The only part that doesn't fit in the world with something like stuffertons for me is that people would be riding them into battle when they seem to meant as a fancy gift for simple transport, and in battle would probably get torn up..

With a large game with lots of cultures/lore it's inevitable that something will look like it won't fit in depending on the region your in. If stuffertons is something fancy noble kids have, it'll fit in fine in that location, but take it to a swamp and it's just jarring and out of place. You can buy a fake Christmas tree right now and set it up in the middle of the desert, will look extremely out of place and ridiculous. Unless you plan on restricting where every mount/item can be used, it's all just an inconvenient inevitability.

The reasoning doesn't really bother me, doesn't have to have an extravagant reason to exist.
I honestly think most people wouldn't have an issue with stufferton if it wasn't a cosmetic but still in the world, because then you would only see it in places where it makes sense like where the rich nobles live with kid NPCs riding them. It's just that it should only really be present in a small section of the world but people will be riding it in lots of places it doesn't make sense that's off-putting. That will be a problem for and kind of niche/unique area that they decide to make cosmetics for though, just like some of these current ones which are meant for a holiday, but people will be using in summer or tropical locations. Doesn't make the cosmetic itself bad, just not something that makes sense to use in particular places without looking off.

This is the best take. There are definitely games where stufferton would feel completely natural. Possibly even terrifying with the right story telling and ambiance. Tiny Tina's Wonderland, Fairyland 2, heck even BDO if they fit the skin to look closer to one of Marny's creations. I just haven't seen any other lore that supports any of those types of elements. We don't have a strong central tinker/puppeteer type figure yet. It's not particularly hard to add these things. It's not even beta. But until they do, I can understand peoples' reflex that it feels out of place relative to everything we have seen so far.
