petition for skin

the skin of Santa Claus, duck, princess, or other nonsense have nothing to do in this game
it totally destroys the adult atmosphere of the creation's ashes
it destroys the game's rp
we don't want a game for 10 year olds
we want the developers to respect the lore of ashes of creation.
steven may think it's cool, but it's just ridiculous
sign the petition
ask all of you to stop this childishness
otherwise soon we will have lollipops and candy canes

I don’t see this breaking immersion in any truly significant way. Holidays are a break from the world. They celebrated many of them on real world battlefields, even respecting the holiday traditions of their enemies enough to have cease-fires, something that is still done.

Of course they are going to borrow from our real world holiday traditions, as they said they would, because those traditions were developed and adapted over centuries - it takes time to invent holiday traditions, and doing them from scratch may make them unique to the world, but it would also take a ton of development time brainstorming what they would be, writing lore for them, thumbnailing/concepting/designing them aesthetically…etc. it’s just way too time to dump into something that only lasts a day or a week each year.

Many folks appreciate holiday events. Personally I could do without them at all, but having them in games is something I am already used to, so I don’t mind it.

It has never broken immersion for me any more than people creating characters with dumb names that don’t fit a fantasy world/story and being in my group/guild/general line of sight - which is to say if I can ignore that impact on daily gaming year round, I can deal with holidays that don’t feel fitting.

My thing is that a guy in red leather with a white fur trim who looks like Santa Claus if you squint a certain way doesn't break my immersion.

It's a costume, not a racial skin, so you're only going to have a fluffy white beard if you created a character with a fluffy white beard. I'm not aware of Santa wearing a spiked helmet or iron-shod boots, or plated gauntlets (though that would certainly be a badass Santa and you'd really want to stay off his naughty list).

Now if they had something that made you look exactly like Elf on a Shelf, with a pointy hat and bells on slippers, I'd be less forgiving. Luckily they have been pretty good about not going down that route and hopefully they'll continue to be like that.

I doubt we would ever be able to get the silly skins out of the game now, but how about we all form a coalition to normalize KoSing anyone that uses them?
