BiS gear will come from crafting that will require mats from open world bosses. Open world bosses means pvp, which means that only a select few will get their hands on best gear. And on top of that you'll need to repair said gear, which will decrease the overall quantity of the sets.

So Ashes will be exactly the game where you will see BiS sets veeeery rarely. This is not fucking WoW where you can just sit in the same instanced dungeon until you drop what you need, w/o anyone else standing in your way.

I like being able to customize my look, and transmog is one way to do it.

By transmog, I assume you mean “get sword A as loot, then get sword B which has better stats but looks fugly, so make it look like sword A”. I’ve played games with extensive cosmetics but no transmog before, like Diablo Immortal (which I’m playing now). You can choose to show the gear you’re wearing, or a cosmetic skin that covers it, but you can’t make one piece of loot look like another.

To me, transmog is something I don’t care about much. It can be cool to work to earn a piece of gear that has bad stats but fits a look you’re going for. But it’s not important to me either.

This game has cosmetics, both full costumes and individual skins for pieces, so whether they also have transmogs or not isn’t a big deal to me.

If transmog is only about modifying the look of my gear to look like any other gear I've previously acquired, for the sake of having a coherent outfit: then I'm all for it.

If you can transmog it to anything you haven't acquired, then I'm a little more iffy on it, but at the same time please note the following video (not the P2W portion):

It really depends by what you mean by transmog,

-p2w cash shop gear - Awful

-Cash shop stat-less cosmetic items - depends, if in game gear looks as good or better then I'm fine with it. if the cosmetics are better than in game gear I dislike it.

-Changing in game gear with different in game gear I'm in favour of if I invested a lot of time on getting a relic or special rare weapon/piece of kit I don't want to not be able to wear it without shooting myself in the foot because it's no longer optimal.

I generally don't care if the guy looks like he's wearing a lvl 35 gear set because they think it looks cool (or they want to smurf their gear) but they are actually rocking max level gear

I don't care if a game does or doesn't have transmog. It's not something that affects my opinion on the game at all.

The term "transmog" is only ever used for appearances. There is no such thing as P2W cosmetics.

'Trans-mog' to me means be able to use mods, in order to make the game look/perform the way you want it to. Am fully against this, since there's usually a mod to make invisible/cloaked professions perfectly visible, to anyone using the mod.

You can decide that you want to call bananas "strawberries", but don't be upset if the strawberry milkshake you order doesn't taste the way you expect.

Transmog has an accepted definition in the MMO world, and it doesn't fit yours.

I like transmog only for things you've found in game. I hate being able to buy cosmetics. Half the fun of an MMO is finding amazing looking gear, not just powerful gear. IMO - cosmetic is "pay to win" also, since looking cool is winning

Being able to control my appearance. 100% for. I actually love the xmog system in wow it's a lot of fun to go back and farm old content to collect different looks.
Paid cosmetics, not as much of a fan.
A.) I think they should be used more sparingly, unlike intrepids a new one each month.
B.) as long as you can't buy in game appearances so you can avoid having to go do stuff in game. Which they have said is the case so I'm ok with them existing.

Personally I am a big advocate for "Visual Progression" as opposed to pay and display. For quite some time I've had the opinion that transmog viewing should be "toggled" on or off by those viewing you. It greatly aids peoples ability to distinguish whether the individual is going to be a threat, particularly if you cannot see their health or level, atleast in my opinion.

I do however understand how difficult it is for MMO's to make a crust & therefore accept it is going to be included in most games in order for cosmetic items to be purchased and used by the community.

Yes. Because it’s only a cosmetic skin. It doesn’t even give you a boat, you need to get one first. Anything that implies power is just a story to make it sound cool.

If that’s misleading, that’s on the marketing team for possibly confusing players into thinking they’re getting more than they are.

I like transmog. I love mix-matching with different armor skins and I want to be able to dress my characters in whatever fashion I like. I really don't want to be stuck with some armor that I don't like the look of just because it has really good stats.
I don't care about showing off hard attainable armors, I only care about what I think look good on my character.

I am fashion over function, so...
I love transmog.
I prefer to keep a signature appearance - if we need to upgrade stats by swapping gear, that's OK, but... I still want to maintain the signature appearance of my outfit/costume... similar to Batman, Wonder Woman or Gandalf.
Not really a fan of "Ultimate Shoulders Gandalf".

And I hate seeing mix-matched, clashing outfits cobbled together from what individual gamers consider to be BiS gear. Cover that shit up with some awesome transmogs.
