Coming Showcases

What is everyone looking forward to the most leading up to A2? for me, I am really aching to see even a sunflower seed of info on the summoner, I know its not intended to be in a2 immediately, but I am really wanting to start seeing where they are. No mmo has really nailed summoner for me over the years, and getting our input on it early could be great!

What would your ideal summoner look like?

Every summoner I have tried playing in an mmo just has a pet that kinda just walks around and auto attacks, have their own passives/minor procs and such. I want to basically dedicate one of my hotbars to skills that I control with my summon, and my spells that I put points into are a mix of my own personal damage spells, as well as buffs for the damage/tank buffs/ support buffs depending on the spec and pet being used. Like, look at BM hunter in wow, all it is really is doing a hunter rotation, but mostly just hitting killcommand and watching the pets auto attack, its never been super involved. demonology lock, you just build htem up while they auto attack, then you make them blow up. like, the summons always feel like an afterthought, and when the class is called SUMMONER, you'd think they would try and put more effort into showing the importance of that class

Summoner and Ranger are the big two, only one to go.

Depends if they want to show every archetype before A2. If they do, then maybe something like this.

January - Caravan PvP
February - Fighter update
March - Node update
April - Rogue update
May - Character creator update
June - Bard update
July - Node update
August - A2 launch

Steven said last year that they're planning to do a "couple more node showcases" before A2, so that's why I added 2 node updates. I'm gonna also say Summoner doesn't make it into A2 launch.

Although I don't think it will actually be a showcase before A2, I would enjoy seeing some form of demo of the mendelian inheritance they are going to implement for animal husbandry.

I'd be shocked if animal husbandry made it into A2 at the start tbh. Sounds too complex for an A2 launch feature.

Exactly that. I am also looking forward mainly for the Summoner. Now i am aware we won't see Jack from the Summoner until later(?) Alpha Two or so,

but aside from the coming Caravan Footage, i am really looking forward to see the Game be completed Piece by Piece, Presentation for Presentation - and of Course that includes our Summoner-Class.

I have not play a solid Bard class since EQ1. I can't wait to see what this class is all about. Support spec and DPS spec. When they have the Bard update, I will watch it no less then twice.

I know this is not what you exactly had in mind due to vagueness but if I had to guess:

- Probably remaining primary archetypes before alpha 2 every 1-2 months.
- Features and systems squeezed in between for game loop
- node updates
- naval updates
- artisan updates
- biome updates
- caravan updates
- Augmentation releases for classes thematically during alpha 2 forward every month or so (tank augments for all, then cleric for all etc.).
- then everything listed above re-iterated with new updates and information directly related more specifically

Obviously, mounts, pets and more mounts and pets.

I'm really hoping to see some great Mage and Rogue showcases here soon, I think they're going to be awesome classes. I also agree with you when it comes to Summoners and that MMOs really haven't found a concrete way on how to offer a great and viable summoner class yet. I've always wanted to see Summoners actually transform into their summon when going through their rotation, but it comes with SO many complications on whether or not certain abilities/spells should change, causing major confusion on proper rotation and what is all available in their toolkit.
