Once you have been through once, you know where the traps, secret doors, et al are located, and so there is no more surprise. At best, they could randomize the location of such things within a piece of content, but then you are just monotonously checking each possible point and it still isn't a surprise. Even in a game like Ashes where content is set to change perhaps every few months (or longer), you still aren't going to be actually surprised all that often unless you are purposefully not paying attention - in which case you will be surprised all the time.

Once you know the locations on the list, there is no more surprise.

Even if there is a chest drop range of 3k places, this is quite normal. The main thing is that there are not a large number of chests. So let's say, 5 chests lost in 3k places.

Sure, they can try to do that - but when people figure it out, what ever they do, there will still be no surprises. Steven is somewhat blind to the fact that the developers of an MMORPG can not beat the players of their own game. Ever. He says a lot of things, that doesn't make those things possible.

When I am talking about how developers can't come up with ways to prevent players from knowing the game in question, and I then say "developers can't beat players", do you think I am talking about developers making a game players can't beat despite that literally not being what is being talked about, or do you think I am talking about the developer vs player competition in regards to disemination of information on the game which is literally what we are talking about? So yeah, which one of these makes more sense in the context of the discussion?
Depraved wrote: » I wasn't talking about playing a game and getting to the end. i was talking in the context u were talking about and then I mentioned hows that's possible (with the chest example).
the players win in the information game because the devs allow them to.
