XP for Miles Travelled

So this was my first weekend in Verra and oh damn was it good!
For the last bonus day given to us by the Sandal God ( Veterans Day ) I decided to travel to every node and the limits of the map. Granted there were moments not spent in travel but it took roughly 3 hours and that was not even a thorough search of everything.

One thing I would like to see is experience for miles travelled, not much I am sure, but something for the effort.

WoW has a token amount of XP awarded for the first time you discover a new zone. Why not?

I hope so. Would be easy to implement as you could gather EXP for entering a ZOI or POI the first time :-)

I would like to see more of a title progression reward rather than some exp. I think you can do way more with this.

e.g.
"explorer of the highlands", "explorer of the desert", "explorer of Verra"

also it would be cool if there is some kind of adventurer guild somewhere in every zone, where you unlock more and more gadget items for the amount of miles traveled/ world map uncovered. These could be something like binoculars, or skins for you and your mount.

Wasn't it Guild Wars that had Vistas? Certain POIs awarded something and then a collection of them you received a title?
I agree though. The time I took traveling from N to S, looking for copper, etc., was A LOT.

This might be ok for a basic system but I would also like to see a more granular system, where the map is broken into micro zones ( maybe not visible to us ) with XP or some other reward system tied to it.

I think you are right it was Guild Wars. I love how big the map is and hence how long it takes to travel but a reward system for distance travelled and unique places visited would be great!

love this idea. doesnt have to be a lot, but reward players for their first visits to new areas with a little xp boost!

GW2 map completion was centered around points of interest/Vistas (POI) and publicquests/heartmapmarker (PQ) completion...I would love Ashes to adopt something similar.

I think GW2 borrowed these ideas form Warhammer Online, so its not exactly a direct copy.

Traveling exp sounds great! Especially with vistas and uncovering new area, POI's, etc.

With Treasure Maps in Phase 2 it looks like we will get something close.

I think exploration exp it's a great idea. Many games do it and it's valid content. And fun for many.
