Question about, node sieges and freeholds
downesy
What would be the reasons why people would want to initiate a node siege? Would having higher level nodes not be beneficial to everyone since increased crafting progression workstations and you also would get set back on getting to the points of interest its level brings and have to rebuild a new node etc. Why not just become a citizen and reap the rewards of the node.
Whats the reasoning behind making freeholds the only place where higher tier crafting can occur? I thought AOC was going in the direction where more people were gonna be in the cities and having players become more attached to their nodes / cities. With freeholds having storage and the best crafting I feel like nodes might be more dead / less populated. Wont this also make the reasons poured into buildings in the node useless since freeholds will be the only way to get to the higher tiers anyway.
I'm pretty new so probably missing some context, if someone could explain would be appreciated.

You'd want to destroy a node if it's blocking your own node's progress, or if you want to change what the highest lvled node around is (say, lvl5 divine changed into a lvl5 military, cause you destroyed the divine and it had a lvl4 military vassal).
Freeholds having processing stations will not stop people from interacting with nodes. You will not be able to just sit in your freehold and do nothing else in the game. Nodes will still have quests, npcs, markets, etc.

Content is also locked behind node development. A raid or world boss may not appear if a specfic node never hits the proper level to un lock it. Quests will also come in and out. You and you friends might to open up a different node to access things and need to burn one to level another.
Or becasue you can...

Agree with your other points but you won't be able to destroy a node directly if it's blocking your progress because it will be in your vassal, which is my main concern about the system. You'd have to have another vassal system facilitate that for you, which does open up other gameplay opportunities I suppose.
